5 mos+ post op, feeling better, though NO Libido

Hi girls, hoping everyone is moving along as well as possible in their journey back from surgery. I am learning the most important thing is to remember this was a major surgery and trying not to expect too much too soon. I am feeling much better - pain is gone! My hot flashes and night sweats are much better finally, thanks to the venlafaxine, which is generic Effexor. A very low dose helps so much, thank God! I still have no libido. Anyone else going through this? Because of the severe endometriosis I had, my libido was low always, now it is gone. I am thinking as time passes things will get better in this area, just feeling bad for my husband. Going to the Dr. today, feeling a little ridiculous to tell him that I am feeling this way though I will tell him. I can't use anything with estrogen or plant based estrogen in it, I get a bad reaction to it, so that is out. Can't drink alcohol, causes major sadness and continuous hot flashes and as you all know, there is much "going on" in the area where the operation took place that is not the most comfortable so....I am really just wondering if anyone is going through the same thing. Its not nice to know others are suffering too, its just nice to know always none of us are alone in our suffering. Hope everyone has a good day. xoxo

Re: 5 mos+ post op, feeling better, though NO Libido

It does sound like a hormone issue to me. Since you can't have estrogen, perhaps you could use progesterone or maybe even a bit of testosterone. I've read that women's libido will often increase with testosterone but it has to be carefully monitored. and let us know what your doc says.

I've read that antidepressants can cause a loss of libido and/or ability to have an orgasm. I'm only 9 weeks out and my sex drive comes and goes. Before my 8 week checkup I was all set to go, but now it's not so much.
