Vaginal cuff still not healed at 6 weeks, no sex

I had my 6 week check up today. She did an internal and my vaginal cuff is still not healed so she said NO SEX for at least 2 more weeks or more.Before the internal I told her about the ER saying my kidney infection was gone, but that I am still having bladder pain when I urinate and a brown liquid staining the toilet paper. She did the internal and examined and pushed on several spots to pin point the pain. She also swabbed the back of the vagina where the stitches are and the swab came out with the brown liquid. She told me it wasn't bladder pain or blood in my urine. My vaginal cuff was no where near healed and the brown liquid was coming from that and the pain was my bladder expanding and contracting pushing on my fragile vaginal cuff and causing pain. I also have pain with BM's, and she said it's the same thing.This exam, was quite painful, but I feel better knowing what the problem is. She said I did not damage anything inside at all, I just wasn't near healed yet and to be patient. I asked about the cuff tearing as I have read stories from other sisters. She told me that in all her daVinci surgeries she has had only ONE rip open. She described to me a very scary. bloody, emergency situation. She told me absolutely DO NOT put anything in my vagina for at lease 8 weeks. She said it might take 3 months for my cuff to be healed enough, and if there is sill any brown liquid leaking out wait even longer to have sex.
I asked her about other restrictions and she told me she doesn't like to give time/weight limits after 6 weeks because everyone is different. She said it might take 6 months to a year to be at 100%. She told me she trusts me to listen to my body and restrict myself. She said anything I do that causes any amount of pull, pain, stress feeling in my abdomen is something I should not be doing.As time goes by I should keep trying new things, but stop immediately if I feel anything inside that feels strained.I specifically asked about vacuuming and she laughed and said your body will tell you, but your not going to be vacuuming for a long time.I've been pretty good with the listening to my body stuff, so I'm good with this.

I'm so glad you have not been pushing yourself too hard...you probably would have hurt something. You have been recovering, in my opinion, the best way...giving yourself the rest you need and not worrying about being the first to the recovery finish line. You know there is not even a race!!
I'm sure you are relieved to have some answers today.

I'm sorry that you are healing slowly. My vaginal cuff healed slowly too. I had to have silver nitrate treatments both at 6 weeks and then at 8 weeks. There were times that I thought I'd always have problems and I'd never fully heal!!

Overall, I have felt better and better each week, but it wasn't until very recently (I'd say really in the past couple of weeks and I'm about 3 1/2 months post-op) that I'd say I really felt great...better than I can ever remember! I am still tired and emotional here and there, but I know I'm going to be okay!!

Healing from this surgery is definitely a process. Have and take one day at a time.

LaineyLaine That 6 month post was what was on my mind before my appointment and I made sure I asked the doc today about that cuff DaVinci thing today. That;s when she gave me the story about the one emergency tear lady. I had no idea my cuff wasn't healed before I went to her. I thought the brown stain on the tissue was blood in my urine.
laura13 I have taken my recovery very safe and cautiously. Probably more than necessary. I am confident I have done nothing to slow my recovery, and am ok with being a slow healer.
Meka40 Thanks for letting me know their is a rainbow in my future! I am ok with waiting as long as I know eventually I can put this all behind me and live a fun and healthy life once again. I was sick with my girlie problems ( almost incapacitated at times) for 3 years before surgery. I don't even really remember what fun and pain free was like.

There is definitely a in your future. Hang in there! :
