Mini hot flashes since surgery

I have a question. I am roughly 5 weeks post-op and had LAVH. My ovaries are still in there but since the surgery I have been dealing with night sweats and sometimes during the day I feel like I am having a mini hot flash. I say mini because after seeing full blown ones my friends have had I know these are way less than that. I'm just wondering if maybe my body is just getting back into it's groove and that is what is causing them. I was on birth control for 22 years prior to the surgery and obviously now that is gone so maybe that is all it is? I'm just shy of 43 years old and am really hoping that this is not early onset menopause.

Sometimes your ovaries can go into "shock" for a few months after surgery from the lack of blood supply and manipulation during the procedure. Usually it takes a few months to get everything back on track and regulated.

Check with your doctor. You may want to have a hormone level check, and also ask about using an over-the-counter soy supplement, such as Estroven or Healthy Woman until your ovaries get back to producing as they should.
