Nausea prevention

Dear Hystersisters to be. Considering discussing placement of a scopolamine patch 1-2 days before surgery. It is a patch used for motion sickness that had been successful in preventing/improving nausea discomfort after surgery when placed a day to 2 days before surgery. It is placed behind your ear.
My surgeon is also a researcher & women's advocate. I refused the patch until after surgery.
I couldn't keep anything down for the first few hours. I finally relented & got the patch. I worked wonders.
Also walk as soon as you can after surgery. This will help minimize gas pain & blood clots. Even when I was nauseated, I would still met my goal of walking around the nurse station (each time with staff assistance). First, I sat at the edge of my bed. Then I walked to the door, then around the nurse station. I did throw up before each time, but I felt better after & felt even better after I walked. Walk with assistance. You can do this. You wil feel better each day after. Be patient with yourself. Let your friends & family care for you while you focus in recovering. Hugs!!!❤️❤️❤️
