numb feeling in your leg/prolapse

I'm back, the . Did any of you have a numb feeling in your upper leg prior to surgery?? I read in one of my books that this can occur with a prolapse because everything is pushing down. It feels like your leg is asleep sort of. it's not numb to wear I can't feel anything, but it's just weird. If I elevate my right leg it feels better.
I bought 3 outfits to wear to hospital. Or do they make you wear those goofy gowns the whole time?? or maybe you are so out of it,you don't care??
I guess I'm getting nervous(again). I didn't sleep good at all last night
Thanks for listening!!! I'll get back on later today & visit.
you guys are truly a God-send
Sharon

numb feeling in your leg/prolapse

Hi Sharon~
Yes I have it too! I went to the orthopedist because it got so bad. I have degenerative disc disease (which is normal as we age!), the spine is holding all our body weight up. When you have prolapse, because the pelvic floor muscles connect to the spine, it can cause undo pressure on the nerves, ligaments and muscles in the spine that the prolapse is pulling down on. Does that make sense? I can't explain like he did!
It is normal and should go away when we have our surgery. I was told if it got worse or I had leg or foot drop(this is where you can't move it), then call immediatly but he didn't expect that to happen.
Whether or not you have degenerative disc disease, this can happen. It is just so inter-connected in there!
As far as clothing goes,....I have heard that you may wear whatever you wish. I made one that has snaps on the left shoulder so I could wear it with the IV! I hate those gowns! Then my mom went out and bought a few shifts and t-shirts to wear at home following! what a dear!
Best of luck, and if it gets worse, call your doc!
