Pre-OP Expectations?

I am having my pre-op on Friday the 30th for a LSH. Are there certain questions I should ask concerning this particular procedure? I am really nervous, I am opting for this procedure to keep my ovaries and cervix. I am scared I will wake up and the doctor will have taken out everything! Any advice? Thanks for the support, I have been post poning this for 5 years! I have two large fibroids!

Day I came home from the hospital, I drove my 5-speed Mustang I went back to work fulltime 2 1/2 weeks post-op (had to wait for MD clearance). Best advice, take a back scratcher with you to the hospital, and baggy pants. As soon as you can, start to after the surgery. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't change anything, except, maybe keep my right ovary. Menopause has hit me hard & fast, but if you're keeping your ovaries, you shouldn't have a problem. Best of luck to you and enjoy your early Christmas present, you should be back to your normal activities by then.

LSH/BSO, fibroids, L dermoid cyst 07/17/07

i was worried about waking up and finding out he took something out that i didnt want removed. i went as far as telling him that i wanted only my uterus removed unless it was to save my life. i wanted my cervix and ovaries left there knowing i might face more surgery in the future. i made sure he wrote it down. i also asked him about staying longer than a day in the hospital if i needed to...and he was fine with that.
i'm sure that you will be very happy you chose this surgery. i have never regretted it. good luck
