5 days till hysterectomy (3/24). SCARED

Thank you all for sharing your advice. I am so happy and relieved that I found this site with all these awesome women. My Sig other has been telling me all these terrible stories that he has read on the internet. Last night after reading this site I slept all thru the night. Thank you all! Not such a scared gangster.

LOL Tell that other half of yours to behave himself!

With that sort of thing I try and remember that people are more likely to post on the internet with bad stories than good because those with good stories don't need to look for support, they just get on with their lives. In real life I think the good stories way outweigh the bad but it is the bad you hear about more because people want to talk about them more or ask for help etc.

Hang in there! We can do this!

Hello, I was so scared and always on internet all hours of the night. This total process consumed my well being. I had tvh and I'm doing okay. I think you have to fine inner peace and everybody body is different

My tvh is the 24th as well. I'm very nervous too. I'm scared of all the unknowns. My Dr is confident that she can do the surgery vaginally and that she'll save my ovaries. I know this is what I need to do, yet I can't help but feel like maybe i should just tough out the pain every month because of the risks. I'm going to be a total wreck the morning of surgery. I was so anxious even going to my pre op appointment. I just want it to be over.

Gabster71, there is a forum thread "take cervix or not" which has plenty of experiences and research links - there are mostly positive and reassuring stories either way (pros & cons for each). I read a lot about sexual function in the lead up to my op. Most women seem to have a better sex life due to the resolution of the issues leading to their hysterectomy. Either with or without their cervix. I'm just post surgery myself (D3) and I was scared silly, my experience so far has been positive, I have pain, but no where near as bad as my imagination! Hang in there, maybe think about getting a second opinion if you're still worried. Angel555 Hugs!!!
