Oh sweetie! I felt a lot like you before my surgery last week. I was so scared of surgery itself. Now? I am recovering, and having some pain, but the overwhelming relief of being past the "worst part" is wonderful. Hang tight. I too lived with pain for way too long. You will be so glad you did this.

Oh Samantha! First of all here's a . Isn't this a wonderful place to vent? Its perfectly normal to be nervous-I've had 4 surgeries and was very nervous, even tho I knew what to expect. As for DH, he probably doesn't think that its no big deal, he likely wants to be strong for you and thats the only way he knows how. He's a man and is totally wired differently from us. He also has little idea of what you are going thru as he has no uterus. He only sees what you let him see. The best way to deal with him, IMHO, is to give him little jobs to do for you, and thank him for doing it even if its not done perfectly. Men need to do something concrete, they don't deal with emotions/feelings well. They need to fix, when all we need is to vent. They just don't get that. Have him help you do groceries, or help you cook your favourite meal so he'll know how to do it for you after your surgery. Just also let him know that you don't want it they day you come home! Just a few little suggestions. I hope they help.
