Not Alone

My surgery is scheduled for 7:30AM on Monday 12/12. Possible ovaries and tube removal. I have been keeping myself super busy at work and home this week. Plan on doing my Xmas shopping this weekend; however, I am having trouble sleeping. From reading other posts, I see that it is common to have trouble sleeping a few days before surgery. The one thing that is freaking me out is that a mass was seen on CT scan but not on ultrasound, so i won't know until I wake up whether ovaries & tubes were removed.

Re: Not Alone

Lack of sleep a few days before is very common.
Just think of all the make up down time you will have afterwards...LOL

Unknown is hard but we put faith in our Docs to make the right choice for us when we are out. I am sure your doc will make right choices for you..

Re: Not Alone

Most of us don't know for sure if we're keeping our ovaries when we go into surgery. The standard doctor line is "if they look healthy we'll keep them". When I woke up in recovery the very first thing I said was "what did he take out?". Trust in your doctor. They never want to remove anything unless necessary.

Re: Not Alone

Hi Milleramos,

I see that you are on the east coast and probably won't see this until after your surgery, but I wanted to write anyway.

The worst part of the whole thing for me was the waiting and the unknown.....I didn't know what to expect or what the doc would find in there. I had a little meltdown the Saturday before and couldn't/wouldn't do anything the whole day.

My Sunday the day before, I was forced to get up and do something, otherwise I would have been in deep trouble (bowel prep, house cleanup, etc.)

After the surgery was SUCH A RELIEF,

The best I can wish you is a totally boring, uneventful surgery and a happy recovery!

I'm one week out and really happy to have this done - I hope the same for you.

Re: Not Alone

Happy to hear that you are on the mend. I had my LSH in 2006.

My best advice, no matter how good you feel, take it easy. It is so easy to think that we are fine, and then overdo it.

This is a time to relax and pamper yourself.
