What'll it be Doc?--Info about a TAH/BSO, please.

Thank you all for posting your stories! I'm now 5 days from my TAH and feel better after reading your posts. I'm trying not to tire myself out with the enormous to do list (that seems to keep growing)! I am encouraged that I may not need help upon returning home - I will be caring for myself most of the time. The more I read that others have been able to manage, the less stressed I am. Thanks!

Wonderful

Thank you all SO very much. The response that you have given me are so postive and so informative that I am feeling so much better, (other than crying) you are all beautiful where it counts - on the inside.

I will get the pillow but I still have plenty of time. I noticed that some of you had mentioned the swelly belly band. What exactly does this do and does it help with recovery?

Also, I would like to say a big thank you to those of you who have shared your stories about the "after", I am NOT good with pain and I have been so worried about pain control in the hospital and afterwords.

One more question though. My Doctor mentioned that I would start on hormone therapy but he did not mention when. Could you fill me in on this and how that works.

Thanks again!

belly band/hormones.

hi,
I noticed your questions about the belly band and hormones wasn't answered so I'm bringing it back to the top. I haven't used either so I can't answer.

I'm also bringing it back to the top because others are nervous about upcoming surgery and I thought this thread might help them.

What'll it be Doc?--Info about a TAH/BSO, please.

Thank you all so much for sharing your stories about post op.
I am scheduled for TAH BSO tomorrow am at 8:45. I was having a really bad and emotional day until now. Reading your stories about how it wasn't so bad after all really helped me, eased my worries. I think the scariest thing for me is what I will feel like when I wake up. Are you allowed to take a shower while you are in the hospital? I hope so because I think it always makes you feel better to be clean. Can anyone tell me if they brought any unnessesary items with you to the hospital? I just don't want to bring too much. Is one pair of pj's enough? Also when do they start you on the hormones? Sorry for asking so many questions but I don't have much longer until surgery. Thanks to all. This site has been great for me!!!

What'll it be Doc?--Info about a TAH/BSO, please.

Hi! For my tah-bso the best things I had was my round squishy pillow, one pair of pajamas, and oral b brush ups. I took a shower on the second day and got on my pj's and went home on day 3 so I changed back into my sweats that I wore in to the hospital. I didn't wear any makeup, did use my hairdryer, and wore the hopsitals robe.

I did use my peppermint tea, was not allowed to use gas-x, and loved my granny panties and my own pads. My hospital had mesh "panties" and pads for me to use, but after my shower and I got my own underwear it was such a big help. I also wore a very comfy bra as I just felt better wearing one since you get visitors and it makes you feel more human.

Hope this helps! Good luck and take care!! You'll do great! Be sure to get the swelly belly band for about day 4 as you will love it! I still use mine on days where I did "too much" and it makes life better. I also still use my little round pillow as I think I have become used to it when I sleep on my side. With it, I was able to sleep on my side by day 5, the round (basketball shape) makes it the perfect prop for your belly.

Doll doc/stacy tah-bso, premarin .625 (they put climara on me on day 2 but it wasent the right one for me and after 5 weeks I switched and so far so good).

Boy this has been a while, thank you for bringing it back to the top. I have since went to my pre-op and my surgery is this Tuesday. I am a little nervous but I have said my peace with the whole thing... It also helps that I just had my last Ms. Flow and it came and is hanging around with a vengence!! Thanks for all the posts, I look forward to hearing more stories!
