what do cysts feel like?

about four months ago, the nurse at the docs office said that the vaginal ultrasound was good - that the only thing it showed was what was PROBABLY a functional cyst on the left ovary.
....well
I have this cyclical pain that seems to get worse each month and last for around two weeks. Its a zapping, sharp pain. Sex hurts sometimes during this period of time and when walking, sometimes I have to hold my left side to contain the pain.
Is that what cysts feel like?

I cant speak for everyone who has had a cyst,but before my TAH/BSO my right side hurt alot!like a throbbing at times especially before and during my periods...got to where my right side which had the Big one hurt all the time, and sore most of the time tooIt was the kind of cystic tumor that had to come out...

I think cysts can affect each of us differently. Your symptoms sound a lot like mine. I had 2 occasions that were just mind blowingly painful over to 12 hours, I believe those were the occasions were when each respective cyst ruptured.

I still am dealing with this (since mid-October) and I am doing better. I as on BC pills to regulate and they worked great (pain free for the most part) but they were elevating my blood pressure so I had to come off.

Since then, I still have painful days, but they aren't as bad and there are less than them. I will know more when I go for a follow up US in May.

What has your Dr said about the pain?

I am waiting to go back to the docs. She did that vaginal ultra sound the first time I complained. I have not really complained to her too much more about it. With work, holidays then my mother passing away suddenly and having to deal with the fixing and selling of her home, I have not had time to get back to the docs. (just been eating loads of tylonal and advil -- not that it does much).
I do have a message in with the answering service to get an apt - was just hoping to sort of have a heads up before I went in cause they don't explain things very well at my docs office - you always leave sort of wondering what just went on and without any answers.
