Is anyone else feeling like this?
Hi, I'm almost 6wks post op. I had LAVH with rectocele/cystocele repair and scar tissue revision.
All I have to say is, Thank God for all you sisters!!!!
I too was feeling frustrated and despondent, now I realize that I'm right where you all are and that nothing is wrong with me. I also have friends who just bounced right back, (love them, but grrr).
I think part of my deal is that I am just starting to grieve about this whole process. Eventhough I am 45 and had a tubal ligation years ago, as long as I had a uterus, having another child was still on the table, and I'm sad about that. The other thing I am coming to grips with is that even after I am all healed, I still won't be able to do the things I used to. I've always been physical and used to routinely lift or push things weighing 50 to 200 lbs. If I wanted something done, I just went ahead and did it. I just feel like from now on I'm going to have permanent limitations. I kind of feel like my body betrayed me. For me all this happened suddenly and out of the blue. It started with hemorrhaging, then a uterine prolapse, then during surgery my Dr. found everything else falling out too. I didn't even know that could happen. The last few months have been one "OH my God!" moment after another.

Re: When does it really start improving??!!!
Hello :-)
I am 14 months post-op (TAH) and it's been a time of ups and downs but now I can say I have no regrets about having it done.
Before I had surgery my doctor said to me something like 'there are no prizes for bravery' - so hang on in there and heal at your own pace - it does get better the further along you go.

Re: When does it really start improving??!!!
Yes I AM feeling the same way. Yesterday I had a pity party for myself. Still having the burning/heavy/swellybelly and so sick of discharge. I've had stomach issues since 1997 so having the TAH should be my fix. I'm just tired of being tired and having people raise their eyebrows because I still can't help out at school like before and I'm 4 weeks past surgery. Then they look at me funny when I see them in a grocery store. Yes I can do things but I'm still in pain and exhausted all the time. Thanks for letting me vent!

Re: When does it really start improving??!!!
So glad for this website otherwise many of us would be labeling ourselves as crazy and its all in our heads! Thank you Jomo that makes me feel better. Im almost 4 months since davinci and just when I was feeling so much better BAMM since last Wednesday or so pain on my right side of my belly button down all that area feeling sore again when it wasn't bothering anymore. All I can think is that I wore higher heels last Tuesday otherwise been careful thankfully I have not started exercising or would be blaming it on that. yes we are all different on how we heal some are very lucky others just takes times. My legs also have been hurting along with hip/leg pain more on the left just so weird.. Doctor told me that it could be that I have a cyst on the right ovary airhead he is ive had this pain from day 1 after surgery from the big instruments going in threw the right lower side. he scheduled me for an ultrasound for the ovaries but I rescheduled don't want any poking for now giving it more time.

Haha about the leggings. I decided my entire new wardrobe is going to consist of leggings and tunic tops/dresses. comfy and hides the swellybelly. bonus! Tried heels the other day, after about 20 steps all I could do was shuffle. In public. Total spectator event. GAK!

Re: When does it really start improving??!!!
It will be five months next week for me. At 6 weeks post op my dr told me it would be 6 months to a year for the belly to quite aching after extended periods of activity. It's just been the last 2 weeks that I have the energy to sustain a day of activity and the belly still swells. Picking things up does not cause any tightness or pain, but by the end of a busy weekend I can barely walk.
What bothers me most is that I cannot wear my pre-surgery clothes. They are all too tight.
