Almost 4 months post hysterectomy - slight pulling and pain

I'll be 4 months post op March 14th and feeling slight abdominal pain. At 7 weeks I had to fly over 10 hours to be by my mother's bedside. Once I arrive I was swollen from the waist down. So, I rested, iced and elevated as much as I could. The swelling went down and I really watched what I did. At my Mother's funeral I fell, I think it was numerous things, but I saw a local doctor and he said I was fine. ( he gave me muscle relaxers to rest). I noticed I was a little tender in the stomach area, so I really watched what I was doing.

I'm home now and going into my 4th month. I walked a mile on Wednesday night and felt some slight pulling, so I decided to stop. I've noticed that it still hurts when I move certain ways or if little ones (I'm a K3 teacher) run into me. So, I'm wondering if any of you have experienced this and when you feel normal again?

Feeling frustrated...but thankful for you ladies!!!!

Re: Almost 4 months post hysterectomy

Hello! I am almost 5 months post my TAH. When I have had a long and exhausting day I do still have the "swelly belly" and sometimes even my scar will bother me and I do feel internal twinges now and again. I have read that it takes up to one year to be completely healed. But you know - ever in doubt - always good to speak to your own Dr! Best - edielongbeach

Re: Almost 4 months post hysterectomy

I still had tenderness on my belly for about a year. Every time I bumped into something there would be pain. There will be some pulling for awhile as everything heals up. If you are concerned, maybe see your doctor.

Thank you ladies, sounds like it's normal and part of the healing process. I just wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing it. Thank you again!!!!

Re: Almost 4 months post hysterectomy

I am still tender and I have been flying since 7 weeks for work.
It seems the last week or two has been worse, even though I haven't done anything different. I think it's all part of the healing process. I am wondering if I am getting some feeling back in the incision area. I have had swelly belly for about a week now.

Re: Almost 4 months post hysterectomy

First let me say that I'm sorry that your mother passed. It must be very hard to deal with on top of everything.

I am 3 weeks post-op TAH and am dealing with a lot of the same symptoms your described. I am swelling and fell earlier in the week, I think my blood pressure just got too low. I swell so much it hurts and nothing I do seems to help, except staying in bed, and I can't do that all the time. I am also a K-1 teacher so I worry about how things will be when I go back to work. Did you find the swelling got worse when you went back to work?

Almost 4 months post hysterectomy - slight pulling and pain

Thank you for the kind words regarding my Mother, it's very much appreciated.

As for going back to work, the first two weeks were touch and go. In the morning the swelling would be minimal, but by the end of the day, I was home resting with a heating pad or ice (which ever felt better). Just be careful with the little ones bumping into you and getting up and down from the floor. I thought I was good, but sometimes you have a child excited and they run to you or sit with you. It does get easier, but each day is totally different. Like today, I was fine at school, but on the way home the seatbelt tightened up on me and it gave me a good little twinge.

I hope you're doing better, I'm sure your kids will be happy to have you back!

I agree, I think it's all part of the healing process. We just need to listen to our bodies and rest when needed, which is sometimes hard for us to do.

Hope you're feeling better!!!
