6 week mark and scared!!!!

Good Morning,

First I want to tell everyone thank you for this website. I cant tell you how much this website as helped me. At a time that was so scary for me and really I dont like to ask questions, all of my questions have been answered by reading everyone's posts on this site.

I was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer and I had a radical hysterectomy on September 15th. Tomorrow is my 6 wk mark and let me tell ya, my sweetie is well aware of that. I am scared of the unknown. Can anyone help me understand what to expect for the "1st time after"......

Thanks!

Jenny

6 week mark and scared!!!!

Hey Jenny!

Congrats on being a cancer survivor. I, too, was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer and consider myself a survivor. I had my hyst. on September 18.

I already resumed 'relations' with my wonderful sweetie. He is a big guy in all aspects.....6'3", 230 pounds, big! He went nice and slow, very easy and things were wonderful. I've had no problems with dryness or achieving the big 'O', which is still as great as it was before my surgery. I have not had pain during WOO HOO nor have I had ANY bleeding during or after. Things are relatively normal again in that department.

While everyone is different, I'd say just try to relax and enjoy the moment. I hope this helps a bit. Do what YOU feel comfortable with!

6 week mark and scared!!!!

Hi Jenny,

Congrats on being a cancer survivor. I pray it stays away forever. I, too, am an endo-cancer survivor.

This week I am at the 4 week mark. I am as you and scared for that 6 week mark, but you know what? Just because we're at 6 weeks does NOT mean we have to perform intimately. You do it when YOU feel ready. My hubby and I discussed this already and he's about as afraid as I am for that first time..we both said we will wait until WE are ready and not go by the 6 wk. mark. We both don't care if we wait 3 mos. You do it when YOU feel ready ok...don't worry about it and let it happen naturally.

Good luck!

6 week mark and scared!!!!

Jenny - I, too, was so nervous about the first time post-op. My DH was nervous as well! I had a TAH/BSO so my ovaries are gone just like you. I had a little trouble with dryness at first (before my patch kicked in) so I keep astroglide on hand. (my doctor recommended it and some wise ladies on this site use it as well) You can get it at any drug store. Good luck and I hope all goes well. (By the way - I waited a little longer than I could have because I didn't feel ready yet) Hope that helps! Hallie
