Total hysterectomy for migraines?! Help!!
Hi Maddiegrace,
(((Pearle))) had an excellent reply. Please read what she said carefully. You can enter the word "migraine" in the search box, and it will pull up previous posts about migraines. Get as much information as you can regarding surgical menopause, because you may likely be trading one set of problems for another.
s,
Kay

Total hysterectomy for migraines?! Help!!
Hi Maddiegrace,
I'm guessing that by now, you may be post-op. I hope that if you did have your surgery, you're finding relief. And if that you didn't - that you find some other alternative. I know awful it is to have migraines so frequently.
I'm in exactly the same situation as you talk about. I'm choosing hysterectomy because I have tried every other preventive measure, and I have migraines so often and so bad that I just can't go on this way. Topamax didn't help me, and it made me so sleepy that I might as well be unconscious. I'm scared and doubtful, too -- especially about whether or not to keep my ovaries. But, my mom's migraines didn't end till she hit full menopause, and I'm hoping for a similar solution. At this point, I'll take all the menopause symptoms if I can just get rid of the migraines. And if this doesn't work -- then I don't know what I'll do. But, even if I need to supplement via HRT (which I've also tried for the headaches), at least without my own hormones, the levels won't be rising and falling so much -- which is what I think is causing my migraines.
Good luck and I'll be pulling for you...
