daVinci Total Laparoscopic Hysterestomy/BS

I received my papers today for my Hysterectomy. It is noted,

Procedure: daVinci Total Laparoscopic Hysterestomy/BS

Just curious if anyone knows what the "BS" stands for?

It likely stands for Bilateral Salpingectomy ... meaning removing both tubes.

What do you mean when you say to received your papers? Did your doctor or the hospital send you instructions? Did you have your pre-op meeting with your doctor already?

Thank you Elsie, do you know if they can just take your tubes and not the ovaries? I am not supposed to have those removed.

My papers are I guess pretty much for insurance purposes . I have a pre-op with my Doc a week before surgery, and Monday I am having an endometrial Biopsy. I will ask them then.

They can take the tubes without taking the ovaries. It happens fairly often.

Yes, they can remove the fallopian tubes and leave the ovaries in situ- You're having the exact same procedure I did. My tubes had to go because a polyp and a couple of tumours had decided to go try to conquer new territory beyond the confines of my uterus.
