STILL hurting :(

Hey gals! I have a few questions.... I had surgery on August 17th & I'm still hurting... I've been doing the best I can to follow the doctors orders regarding my lifting restrictions & everything but I haven't been perfect... The other night I sneezed & it felt like I ripped something & it burned really bad on my right side... It doesn't hurt all the time but it does hurt every day & it's always on my right side... I have been walking for the past 2 evenings, 2 miles a night, I don't know if that's a good thing or not... It's definitely not something I would have done pre op but then again I am trying to stay more health conscious than what I was pre op... Also my ovaries were left in & I didn't think that I would be going thru hot & cold flashes but I am, every day... It's driving me crazy!!!! If anybody has any advice on what I can do I'd sure love to hear it...

Re: STILL hurting :(

I had a LAVH. I am not sure how different our surgeries are.
I know around my 3/4 week I was feeling better and able to walk more, but I would not have been able to walk 2 miles.
How do you feel when walking? Do you feel good or do you feel tired and have to push yourself? If you feel fine than I would think your body may be up to it, but if your feeling tired- etc then you may be pushing your body too much too soon.
I am able to do 2 long walks a day now and do cleaning, cooking, etc(while staying w/ my restrictions) w/o feeling really tired or in pain, but I am almost at 6wks and I had to slowly work my way up to what I am doing now.
Just listen to your body. It will let you know if your doing too much. If you think there may be something wrong though, I would call the DR to see what she says.
As far as hot flashes, after the trauma of surgery your ovaries can shut down for a period of time causing menopausal symptoms. From what I know it can take a month or more for ovaries to kick back up again. If it continues, I would discuss it with your Dr at your check up.
I hope all goes well and you feel better soon.
