Updated Incision closure info

Has anyone had this done or heard of it? I just watched the new Doctors TV show, they go over different options for women on and off each day. Today they talked about something very interesting and I wish I had known before my surgery. They said you need to request the incision be closed layer by layer with dissolving stitches. Dr Orman the plastic surgeon mentions I think 5 layers of closure. This will elevate the need for staples and the scar will heal almost invisible. I know not all surgeons are plastic surgeons but they are Dr's and they do know the body and the skin layers, I say we should all EXPECT to be closed up in this fashion! Though my scar looks pretty good at 18 months out its still numb! I say WHY have an unsightly scar forever and maybe it will not stay so numb for so long.. Love to hear anyone else's input

Actually, my doctor told me that...right before surgery he came in and said he's going to close me up with dissolvable stitches with a minimum of 5 layers. I have a vague memory of after surgery when he said he had about 7 layers in there, but I could be wrong....

Oh wow tell me all about it!!! You must have had a better time with the incision. I am anxious to find out if anyone gets feeling back and if it blends in over time. Thanks!!
