Real Recovery time for a LSH?
I was told initally it would be close to 3-4 weeks.... the nurse mentioned closer to 6 weeks the other day to me on the phone.
Just curious what week did others who had a LSH return to work?
I am self employed and have client to shoot for at 5 weeks post op and a small shoot tomorrow (at 3.5 weeks post op)
I'm trying not to over do it.
My LSH kept my cervix and both ovaries. Lots of endo cutting/ removing, cleaned up both ovaries, uterus removed and appendix removed.
THX!

Re: Real Recovery time for a LSH?
I am 4 weeks post op from an LSH--I had both ovaries and my uterus removed. I am still sore on the left side, but that is where my OB said he removed my uterus, so it is to be expected!
All in all, I am feeling really good. I am a SAHM of 2 boys, and I am doing well. I do get tired easily and am sore at the end of the day, but I think 3-4 weeks is a good estimate of when you start to really feel good, and 6 weeks is when you feel even better (at least that is what I hope!).
Good luck!

Re: Real Recovery time for a LSH?
Thanks!
I started to feel great this week- even stopped taking advil.... then I started a mini period yesterday with some mild cramping... so I have been hanging out and taking it easy again. Today I was really tired. So I didn't do much. Listening to my body.
For the most part I can get up and get ready on my own each morning- do a few things around the house.... pick kidos up from school- throw dinner in the crock pot etc.... I keep my feet up as much as I can.
I still have my DD who is 3 in full time day care since I can't really lift her up (or don't want to yet... don't need to hurt myself!)
My son can take care of him self after school.
14 more days seems like a lot of time to be good enough to work an 8 hour day.
Glad your doing good too!

Re: Real Recovery time for a LSH?
Hi Fotochick,
I also had a LSH. I would say week (3) was the turnaround week for me. I started back to work at (2) weeks...but truthfully...(3) weeks would have been nicer. I still had to take frequent breaks and rest when I could at (2) weeks. I got a greenlight for the gym and sex at (6) weeks.
Best wishes with your recovery~

Re: Real Recovery time for a LSH?
I'm just over 6 weeks post-op for my LSH (kept ovaries). I would have gone back to work on a reduced schedule after 2.5 weeks but for the huge snowstorms in the mid-atlantic. Instead, I went back after 3 weeks. 5 hours a day during week 4, 7.5 hours a day during week 5, 9.5 hours a day during this past week, and I will work my "normal" 11 hours next week (I'm a salaried professional, so my "reduced" schedule isn't based on an 8-hour work day).
During week 5, I was fine until I hit the wall on Thursday afternoon and basically slept all day Thursday and Friday after getting home. This past week, I hit the wall at my desk around 2 pm on Friday afternoon -- which is pretty good considering that I also returned to playing tennis Wednesday night (for 1.5 hours).
I'd been cleared for driving as soon as I was off narcotic pain meds (4 days), and for sex and exercise (beyond walking, but not tennis or yoga) after 3.5 weeks. Tennis was OK'd at 6 weeks, and I'll probably get the green light for yoga and swimming at 8 weeks.
Of course, your mileage may vary, but I've been pleased with the progress I've been making back to "normal."

Re: Real Recovery time for a LSH?
This is my 3rd week; heading into my 4th. My doc's office puts you out for 4 weeks, which they said was the maximum and that's what I took off from work. I have a physical job where I work at least 9.5 hours a day and am on my feet for most of it, so I'm not in a rush to get back too soon. I think it will be hard enough getting through that first week, so my plan is to build up some strength this week and take it easy when I go back to work next week.
