back pain & bleeding 5 months post TVH

I've doing just great ever since my surgery -- a little pinkish discharge now and then and when I had my last visit at the drs. in march he said my stitches still had not all dissolved yet -- he kind of scraped the inside of my vagina with his gloved fingers, it hurt really bad and I had discharge for a week after, but since then no discharge at all. He didn't talk to me about it, but I had read about granulation here and I assumed that is what the problem was. But this weekend I was working in the garden, and all of a sudden I had the worst back pain i've had since the surgery -- I wasn't going to worry about it unless I started bleeding, and this morning I noticed I had some red blood on my underwear and when I went to the bathroom there was more on the tp. Now it has stopped, so I'm not sure if I should be worrying or not. I've also begun walking a lot more in the past couple of weeks -- bought a treadmill and have been walking regularly on it. I'm thinking that I'm probably not completely healed yet and the exercise is causing the granulation to break up again. But the back pain has me worried that maybe I tore something up in there? Anyone else had any experience with pain and bleeding this long after surgery? I've been so happy that I've felt SO GOOD and was able to be active again, now i'm wondering if I still did too much too soon? Thanks for any support anyone can give me -- I'm just going to take a wait and see attitude -- I tend to worry excessively so I'll try not to!

Re: back pain & bleeding 5 months post TVH

Had my TAH 26th November 2010 and was told after three months the body is healed and you can do anything you like but like you I know that I cant do everything that I want and when I cleaned under the boys bunk bed last week, took out books/games dusted them off vacummed under the bed and put everything back and I too had really bad low back pain I could hardly move and a sore abdomen. I had to go and lie in bed and take it really easy for 2/3 days after. It is so frustrating at our stage of recovery to be told you can do anything when realistically your body simply wont let you. My tummy muscles are so weak after surgery that it directly affects my back when I try and do anything strenuous. I am worried about trying to exercise to strengthen my tummy muscles as I have been told I have scar tissue which also causes me some pain issues.

Just wanted to let you know you are not alone and eventually things will get better for us.

Re: back pain & bleeding 5 months post TVH

Thanks so much for the support, Suep9!

After I posted I remembered seeing a lot of posts on here and on the Facebook page where people said it can take up to a year or so to heal fully -- so that helped me not to worry. Today my back pain is mostly gone, I'm no longer bleeding - so I think that whatever I did to strain my back, also strained my "stitches" which haven't quite fully healed yet, but that they weren't really related except in that way. My doctor did tell me back in March to still be careful when lifting heavy things, and not to lift things that cause me to strain, and I push the limits every now and then, so I guess this is a reminder by my body to be more careful! But I'm still going to walk as much as I can!
