5 months post hysterectomy, kept ovaries: still have breast tenderness once a month

Ok, forgive me if this question is ridulous or complete obvious! I've noticed that my breasts are tender about once a month for a few days or so. What I would normally attribute it to was PMS. However I had a TLH in January. I kept both ovaries, so I'm leaning towards a hormonal change?? What's really odd is the tenderness isn't accompanied by the bloating, mood swings, and general "blah" feeling I used to get during PMS. Other than this weirdness, I've had no other issues since my hysterectomy. Ok ladies: fire away!!

Re: Breast tenderness

if you have your ovaries you can still be getting PMS. That includes breast tenderness or whatever you experienced with PMS.

Re: Breast tenderness

Definitely sounds like PMS. It makes sense that PMS is different after hysterectomy. I take evening primrose oil for breast tenderness. It helps me a lot, but some ladies say it does nothing for them. It might be worth a go.

Re: 5 months post hysterectomy, kept ovaries: still have breast tenderness once a month

Hi, I've had breast tenderness on and off since SAH and this past week was followed by bigger swelly belly and light spotting (I kept my cervix and ovaries).
I have been on an enzym to dissolve blood cloths and so I'm assuming this caused the spotting. As for the breast tenderness it might be caused by estrogen dominance. It takes a while (a long while) for the body to adjust after surgery. Just my opinion.
Hope this helps.

I kept my ovaries and my Dr said expect everything to be the same except you can't get pregnant or have your period. He said expect the cramps and PMS.

I'm in period time now after a complete hyst, kept an ovary and feeling pelvic discomfort, just got over sore boobs, but thankful for no bad periods. For some reason I didn't know that I'd still have Pms stuff after hyst. But I do!

Re: 5 months post hysterectomy, kept ovaries: still have breast tenderness once a month

I'm three weeks post-op and my breasts are killing me. Just my shirt rubbing on them about drives me up the wall right now. They were never this sore/sensitive when I'd have a period and I never had 'real' cramps, just a blah/tight feeling for a day or so but I haven't had that. They are getting better but it's slow.

Yeap, once a month I still get PMS and I'm oh I forget how far out at this point, surgery was in early March. Brest tenderness, cramps, mood swings, feeling like crap, all still there and told all normal. OB said it will eventually go away once my ovaries and body adjusts but there was not firm how long that would take.

I'm 5 mo out and still have the Pms stuff. It's my understanding as long as your ovaries function you will have it.
