Vaginal Cuff Healed Overlapping??

I had my total hysterectomy last November. I went back for a follow up feeling almost like I had the beginning of a bladder infection. When my doctor checked me, he said I was having a granulation tissue problem and wanted to use silver nitrate. I was already VERY sensitive in the vaginal cuff area and could not imagine how in the world I would make it through that treatment. I told him I heard that it could be painful and I already couldn't handle him checking the area with his swab. He said just come back to see him if it started to bleed or if there was pain with intercourse. Well...I go back of course in March about to climb the wall and he said they would admit me, put me under, and laser out the granulation tissue. After the surgery, I asked if he was able to laser it all out. He said it was too deep to laser, and he had to cut away the granulation tissue. Under it, my cuff had healed overlapping which of course he said was probably why I was hurting so bad. Now I have stiches all up there again. Has anyone had this happen? He said about 1/ 100 was the chance. Truthfully, what could have caused this to happen?? I followed the rules after the original surgery. I am scared of granulation tissue coming back. When should this cycle stop? I guess it seemed great that the hysterectomy could be done vaginally, but now there are so many new problems because of it I had no idea could even happen.

I am sorry you had this, as it is very painful. I did not have it as extensive as you, but was treated with the silver nitrate 3 x over several months and a minor surgery in office, and have not had anymore problems with it.

You had more work done so it sounds like you should heal fine after what you have been through. I understand that the vaginal cuff tissue is very moist and is hard to heal and some have more problems with than others and then some don't have it at all.

If you do a Search and put in granulation you will see you are not alone with having it, some have had laser surgery as well.

I wish you a successfull healing with this and no more problems.
