Bleeding post-op almost 1 month ago

I had a total hysterectomy with cervix removed. I have one overy left. I have been told that some discharge is normal for up to six weeks after..last night I had a lot of bright red blood come out..the bleeding continued till morning and is now a slight discharge, still red tho not old red new red. Has any one else expereinced this? I called the Dr. office and talked to a nurse, I have a cold and have been coughing. She says to watch the color and amount and if it does not lessen to call again. My concern is I have no cervix and am wondering where is this leakage coming from? My uterus was removed because of endometriosis and i am 36 years old...

If you soak a pad an hour, it is time for you to head to the ER. Otherwise, follow the nurse's instructions. It could be stitches dissolving at the vaginal cuff, but that is just a guess on my part. If you are still worried, call your doctor back.
