Anyone else with bowels running BETTER than before surgery?

Im almost 5 wks post op. before surgery I had horrible problems with constipation, I alos have a bit of a rectocele, that caused me problems, especially when consitpated.

I took stool softeners during my hosptial stay and a week or two afterwards, but now on nothing for weeks, and I go like clockwork each morning, I feel great in that regard.

Could my uterus have been causing my consitpation somehow??

Yes I agree with you. But my problem was a little different. I went to the Dr. with terrible stomach problems and that is how they found my orange size cyst. My problem was with diarrhea and stomach pains. I now have a little trouble with constipation but no severe diarrhea and not pains. The Dr's said that my ovary and stomach problems weren't connected but I know now they were. That has been a huge plus to having the surgery.

I am def. going better than before surgery. I guess there is more room.

I have had problems with constipation for as long as I can remember. Since the surgery, the problems have disappeared. I am going every day.

I think that the constant cramping and inflamation of my uterus had an effect on my bowels.

Count me in as better in the BM department, too! My gyne had asked me a few months ago is I was having any BM problems. At the time I said NO because I thought that was normal for me. WELL, now, almost 3 weeks post-op, I don't have as much gas (sorry), and things are working well!!! YAY!

I also experienced much better bowel function after my hysterectomy. I do believe my problems(adenocarcinoma) was causing me problems with constipation.
