New & Surgery is scheduled for May 31, 2012

First, I am grateful to have found this site.

I am 37 years old and have been dealing with irregular bleeding for the last 6-8 months. I have been bleeding,akin to being on a heavy period every day (save 5 lovely days) since January 1, 2012. The time in which I would likely have a period monthly, is awful. Blood clots and tissue and heavy bleeding. I have tried all non-invasive routes including Mirena IUD, Progesterone. Followed by a D&C and Uterine Biopsy. The cause of the bleeding is undetermined. No fibroids, polyups, or cancer.

Because of the blood loss, I have become anemic. Normal hemoglobin levels should be around 12-15, and I have dropped as low as 5.4. At such a critical level, I was forced to have a blood transfusion (4 units) and have since hovered around the 8-9 mark.

Being an extremely active & healthy person, this has been a very difficult time, and I am actually quite grateful that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I am scheduled for uterine removal in one week. I should retain the cervix, and ovaries. Frankly, I cannot wait to close this chapter, and get back to my old self.
