Hysteroscopy to place IUD for failed Ablation

Hello. I'm 50 years old and two years ago I had a uterine ablation because of excessive bleeding that would not stop for 14 or more days. If it did stop, it would be for a day, and then start right up again. For five months all was great. Then the pain started. Awful horrid pain. It would go on for weeks, and then finally, I would have small bleeding, often black. Then the pain would go away for a few weeks. Then back would come the pain, the bleeding. This cycle has been going on for two years now, more and more frequent.

Following the advice here, I have seen three gynecologists, had a CT scan, MRI, and ultrasounds. All agree my ablation has failed and I have trapped blood. I also have a confirmed diagnosis of adenoymosis. Several options have been presented: (1) watchful waiting given my age; (2) Lupron; (3) hysterectomy; and (4) hysteroscopy with placement of an IUD to help drain the blood.

Lupron is out because I have terrible migraines with aura and my Mom and sister have osteoporosis. I probably have 2 more years before menopause and frankly, I can't take this any longer.

That leaves hysterectomy and the hysteroscopy during which the surgeon places an IUD to keep enough of a hole open so the blood can get out. The doctor says I am experiencing almost labor pains because the blood can't get out. She has there is a 33 percent success rate with this approach in avoiding hysterectomy. (One third she can't even get in due to scarring, one third it works, and one third it fails.) Has anyone ever tried this? Seems kind of a low success rate for being put under.....Thoughts?
