anesthesia for hysterectomy

I am scheduled for a TAH on June 25th. I was wondering if anyone has a suggestion about anesthesia. Mine will probably be general, but I understand there are different versions of that. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I had my TAH/BSO with a general. I don't think there are too many variations on general anesthesia. There are other options for anesthesia, however...including spinal, spinal with sedation, etc. There have been many good posts on these different things; you might want to use the search engine on the top of each page and search "spinal" or "epidural" and see what you get.

A good place to find out what's best for your particular surgery is during your meeting with the anesthesiologist (at your pre-op appt.) You can review the options, your past surgical experiences, and talk about what would be best. Your doctor will also play a big part in this decision; mine didn't give me the option because it would be a long surgery.
