bleeding

I am sooo frustrated.
I was in the hospital in April because my hemoglobin went to 77 as a result of massive blood loss and huge clotting during my period.
By the beginning of May my stores were up to 94.
My gyne put me on the strongest bcp for 30 days, plus gave me a shot of Lupron. A month later I got a second shot of Lupron. About 4 days later I finished the bcp.
Within 2 days of finishing the bcp I started spotting, and all week have gotten worse.
Yesterday I called my gyne because I feel scared that my stores are going to deplete again. He said it was unusuall that I was bleeding while on the Lupron. and He basically said my hemoglobin needs to be over 100 for surgery and we will 'have to keep our fingers crossed'. AHHH!
I am sooo frustrated! (I guess I said that already) I have been crying all afternoon because I have no energy and I do NOT want my surgery postponed.
I am so tired of being in pain and bleeding so much.
I asked if I could take MORE iron than the recommended 3 pills a day - he said no - 'your body can only absorb it so fast.'
I feel so down.

Big Big Hugs

I know how awful it would be to have your surgery postponed. Especially when feeling better is right around the corner! Hang in there. When does your blood get checked again? Are there things you can eat that might help you along? I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Not only will your body not absorb the iron, it's dangerous to take more than the doctor recommends! Don't do it!

Vitamin C foods help the absorption of iron, so if you drink orange juice with your iron that will help. Also, look up foods on the internet that are high in iron and try to fit those into your diet.

I am in the same situation, except for Lupron, so know how frustrating it is. I hope your surgery can go ahead. Being relaxed and happy (!) can help you heal faster, so try to relax and do what you can to eat the right foods and take care of yourself.

I know from experience how hard it is to have surgery delayed. I'm so very sorry. I hope you hit the top 100 and then some!
