1 week after surgery questions

My twins want to see Disney on Ice which is 1 week after my Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy. I have always wanted to go and see the Disney characters on ice. So my question do you think that would be up to attending. My doctor says I will feel crummy for about 1 week. I don't want to over do it but I want o attend with my boys and husband. Or should I just break my own heart and pass it up. I am so twixed and between.

Tickets are only 10.00. We have friends that want to attend also. I know I will rest all week up to this point and then after.

Should I try to attend or pass this up and send my family. This has always been a dream of mine.

Thanks

1 week after surgery questions

A week after my surgery I was given the strictly bed rest, only bahtroom and back to bed for 2 weeks. I was fine until Istarted spotting and lower back ache that is still haunting me.
I am a 1month yesterday 1-30-09 I am healing and feeling great. today was my best day, I really have been in bed resting and not doing much, as I have been told that the more you do even though you might feel well, can and eventually will catch up to you. I really hope and wish you do the best. We each know are bodies and will eventually do what we want to do. I myself would not go and take that time to your self to rest and relax. I have done lots of knitting and I have learned to take advantage of this down time that we have as we heal. Remember you will always have your family for happy times. and Healing is a tough process, even if you feel great. Good luck!!! I wish you the best ...

There is no way I could have done that at one week. At that point, a brief trip to Walgreens wiped me out.

Not only do you have to sit for the whole program (being vertical for a couple hours at a time is problematic), just walking to and from the seats would be bad. Your innards will be very tender and swollen, and it's important to be someplace where you can lie down if necessary. Even if you were able to use a wheelchair, the ride in it would jostle you quite uncomfortably. I'm five weeks post-op, and today was the first day I did not lie down at all--and I can feel it, too.

As heart-breaking as it might be to miss it, think about how hard it would be on your family if they all had to leave early because you started experiencing pain. Perhaps they can make a point of buying you a souvenir and then taking turns telling you about their favorite parts afterward.

Well- if you can afford it --buy the ticket. If you feel well enough to attend then do so--if not--don't go. I had surgery on Dec. 15th and was driving by the 19th. I only drove for short trips. I am a quick healer but I did adhere to the no lifting, bending rule. I was released last Tuesday at my 6 week post op. You can and will feel bleh afterwards. Some patients take pain meds for several days/weeks while other are off of them 2 days or less after surgery. If I did an activity one day then I made certain I rested the following day.

I would not have been able to go out at 1 week. You only have one chance to heal well so I would not risk hurting anything that early. That is just my opinion. Some people feel good enough to go out. But I agree with the above, the more you do in those first 2 weeks the more it will catch up to you. Best wishes.

1 week after surgery questions

One week after my LAVH I was still in the hospital! I was allowed the privilege of complications! I had to cancel all of my holiday plans with out of town family and friends. So I do know how frustrating it can be to not be able to be as well as you want so soon after surgery!

I honestly would not plan to attend but if you want to put out the money and hope for the best, that is up to you. Be aware that sitting for the show could leave you feeling pretty miserable.

As mentioned, you only have one chance to heal right the first time so it is best to let your body have the time it needs to heal well for you.

1 week after surgery questions

I was in hospital for 6 days, due to some minor complications. After discharge, I had another few "complicated days." During 3 of these days, I was up and about - in the ER and my docs office. Just mere sitting, for a couple of hours, while waiting for test results, was not only exhausting but also ended up causing me more pain. (I walked very little and was pushed around in a wheel chair.)

I'm on week 3 and am still taking it easy. I sit in my recliner, for a few hours, but then am so fatigued I have to go to bed to take a short nap. - Today, will be the first day that I plan to leave the house and go to a acupuncture appointment. I tell myself that I'll be lying down, during the treatment, so I'm hoping, I'll be ok............

If I were you, I'd wait to go out. It's too bad that you can't attend with your family, but I wouldn't deny the kids the fun....

I has TAH/BSO and there would have been no way, if the ride there didn't do me in, sitting that long would have. I went for a ride with my family last night and that was all I could handle. I am not sure how some have gone shopping or driving within a week of surgery. Maybe it depends on the type you have done.

Take it easy and don't push yourself to hard. You can only heal as fast as your body will allow.

I had tickets to a show a week after surgery, I wasn't up to going sitting would have been too difficult for that period of time. Also my surgerically induced menopause was in full swing so I had to give my ticket up. You could always buy it and see how you feel and pass it on if you don't feel up to it.
