Bladder probs?

Hi everyone. I heard only last week that I will be having a TVH a week today (20th August) which is great because I haven't much time to think about it, but also haven't much time to organise myself either! I'm having pelvic repair work done at the same time, apparently have prolapse bladder and rectum as well as uterus. I know I will have a catheter and am a bit worried about how the old "water works" will be and wondered what everyone else's experiences were in similar circumstances. I know everyone is different, but feel the need for some sisterly support on this. Beginning to worry now!

Waiting is truly the hardest part. I had a TAH and had a catheter when I came out. You don't even know its in there. I expected to have sensations of having to go the bathroom....but you don't even get those!!!

Then the catheter comes out. I did experience bladder spasms when I came home, but these eased over time. And not everyone experiences them.

Try to take it easy (I know, easier said than done). Pretty soon you will be a princess and VERY happy!

I too didn't feel my catheter while in the hospital. I didn't feel it when they pulled it out either. The packing kinda freaked me out, cause I didn't know it was there. But it wasn't painful. Good luck with your upcoming surgery.
