Surgery tomorrow morning

Well my time has come. Tomorrow morning I'm scheduled at 8am, be at hospital at 6am. I'm finding as the seconds, minutes, hours count down I'm getting nervous and anxious. I'm sure this normal. Seems I can't sit still. I've dusted, cleaned bathrooms, am doing laundry as we speak and shortly will shower, so I can shave my legs and such. Really anything to keep me busy. I fear that if I slow down, I'll break down and cry. I know I'm making the right decision, but it's a decision at the age of 35 I never thought I would have to or the reasons behind it. My mom and husband are being so supportive. I'm trying to be strong, but the truth is, plain and simple: I'M SCARED. I'm sure you sisters can relate and thank goodness for that. I wonder what I'm going to be like after these defective parts are out. I know what I'm like now. It's the unknown that's scary. If, any of you ladies have any kind of words of wisdom, it would truly help me.

Re: Surgery tomorrow morning

!

What you're feeling right now is perfectly normal. Sometimes it's hard to give up the known for the unknown but hopefully reflecting on your reasons for having made this decision will reassure you. Keeping busy is a good way to distract yourself and help the time pass faster. Sounds like you got a lot accomplished and have a good support team in place to help, too. That's so important!

I'm sending and all best wishes for your surgery tomorrow and as well as for your recovery. Soon we will see you on the Post-Op side!

Re: Surgery tomorrow morning

Yay! It's your time! (Don't you have that one little voice that's saying, "Woo hoo, finally!"?!)

I think we were all a little scared the night before and I can certainly relate to how you're feeling. When all my defective parts came out and after I was a little bit recovered, I felt physically the same, but no more pregger belly (I had an 8" fibroid removed), no more cramping, no more over-the-top periods... so the same... but better! I had my TLH 4+ weeks ago and while I'm still in the recovery process, I'm thankful every day for having done the procedure. Remember that we're all sending you our strength for an excellent surgery and quick healing.

I did exactly what you're doing - frantic last minute cleaning, laundry, etc. just to keep busy. I still didn't sleep. Good thing I had 4 hours on the operating table! I think it's good to be a little scared because it ensure you make the surgery decision for the right reasons - if it was "easy", you wouldn't be doing it.

You'll be in my thoughts tomorrow. Best wishes and breathe deeply. Relax and put your faith in your surgeon; it's in their hands! And be nice to the drug guy - God bless anaesthetists everywhere!

Hugs,

s.

Re: Surgery tomorrow morning

I'll also be going in tomorrow, I did most of my cleaning already but finished up on laundry and some vacuuming. Did my fleet enema and not alot happened LOL!! So I drove back to the pharmacy to see if I did something wrong but she told me that since I already eat alot of fiber and take 3 tbs of ground flaxseeds everyday I am probably fairly *cleaned* out

Anyway just like you I am getting a little nervous but really more excited, I am ready to be done with the bloated yucky feeling that I've been living with for so long now. Good luck tomorrow and we'll see you on the other side

Re: Surgery tomorrow morning

whoa! For a second, I thought I wrote your post. How you're feeling is EXACTLY how I feel. (I'm 35 also) Terrified of the "unknown". I'm still waiting for my date, I hope you continue to post after your surgery. I think what we're feeling is normal, but that doesn't make us feel it any less. Hang in there, I hope you get some sleep tonight.

Re: Surgery tomorrow morning

I'm in the same boat also. I have cleaned so much. Every time I walk by a tiny piece of crumb or dirt I am cleaning. I am trying to stay busy. When I start to sit down I get nervous, so I get back up and try to think of something else to do. I even made a list of everything my dh needs to do and who he needs to call on what days and who is bring dinner that night. My oldest son stays on the computer so I try to get on as soon as I can. Because if I don't he's like can I please get on the computer now.I will put my last post in morning before I leave to go to the castle. I have to be there at 10:30. I'm so nervous and yet will be glad to get this done!!
