2 weeks to go and already SO nervous!!

Everyone else, thanks for chiming in...it has made me feel much better just to hear from others and I'm not too concerned with the catheter anymore. Sounds like it's going to be a blessing to be able to rest rather than moving around alot just to pee

Oh my word, my op was February 2012 and I too was worried sick but nothing could have prepared me for how little pain there was compared to what I thought there would be, I had a laparascopic vaginal total hysterectomy and it was the best thing I have ever done. I did not have a catheter and getting up and walking around a little helped more than just sitting in bed. I had the op at 3.45 on the Wednesday afternoon and was home on the Thursday morning by 11.00am and managed to cook an easy meal on the Friday. It is painful but nothing like you think it will be. The only think I will mention is that they leave an antispeptic liquid inside you after the op to keep the area clean and to stop organs sticking together but you do not know it is there apart from if you do get up the pressure of the fluid goes downwards and can cause swelling down below, and believe you me that was more scary than the pain until I found out what was wrong but really the experience was a dream compared to how you are feeling now so do not worry. Hopefully you will be feeling like this little man in no time at all.

I'm getting a bladder sling as well, so I'm sure I'll have a catheter. Glad your surgery was easier than expected

I'm having surgery the same day as you and I can't wait to get it over with. I have thought about the discomfort of the catheter but I figure it will be worth it if I can be completely pain free in a couple months. Good Luck!

Respecka, I completely agree. It'll be worth it in the end. I ended up in the ER for an extremely painful anal fissure of all things! My prolapses are weighing me down so heavily and my nerves have been sending me to the bathroom constantly (hence the new problem)! TMI I'm sure!
