Questions about a possible hyst for endo

I am new to this forum and I need your ladies feedback. I have been battling endo for 13 years, I am 47. I had surgery in May to remove some endo and he blew up a cyst and have a TVT put in.
Two weeks ago, I started hurting again, and I have another cyst on the ovary and the endo is back again, this time attached to other organs. I am schedule for an ultrasound Dec 1st. and I am facing a hysto.
So here it is, I have heard so many horror stories about HRT - no sex drive, insomnia, hrt possible link to breat cancer. Let me be honest, HRT kind of scares me. I feel like I have to choose between bearing the pain or all the things that go on with having a hysto and HRT.
So I need your help lady --- do you gain weight even if your eating habits do not change? and the biggy -----Is the sex drive gone? Please shar with me your stories with HRT............Thanks,

Hi Skwilso, if you keep poking around this forum you will see many of your questions covered in other threads. Look for the "Search" button, then type in "Endo" and you should see a lot of threads that talk about Endo-Hysto and HRT. In some of the topic forums you can only post if you fit certain criteria (I think, for example, you have to already have had a hyst to post in some). Lots of terrific answers here and everyone is so very supported.

I send healing rays of light to each and every one of us!

Questions about a possible hyst for endo

Hi skwilso!

I am sorry that you might be facing a hyst. Do know that many women are concerned about having a hyst and about HRT.

As you have endo, do you see an endometriosis specialist? Are you aware that neither a hyst nor a BSO cure endo?

I had my hyst because of endo but chose to keep my ovaries. My doctor and I felt that keeping my ovaries was the best choice for me because of the benefit to my overall health. Hormones benefit your cardiovascular system, bones, libido, just to name a few things. And if you have endo, HRT can be tricky, if it is even allowed. Any estrogen you take in has potential for feeding any endo that was left behind either intentionally (like what is on my bowel walls) or unintentionaly as it was microscopic and undetected.

It is very important that you see a doctor who is knowledgeable about endo and HRT if you will be having a BSO. We do have several HRT resources available in our "Hormone Jungle," but the whole jungle is a different story for those of us with endo. And a second opinion about both a hyst and the BSO is always advisable.

We have many Endometriosis Resources you may want to read through to familiarize yourself with endo as much as possible prior to making your decision.

Best wishes to you as you decide what is best for you!
