4.5 weeks post op total abdominal hysterectomy recovery...
The first three weeks were excruciating! Tenderness, cramping, dizziness, couldn't tell when I needed to urinate (was not leaking at all) would have to guess. I'm at four and a half weeks and still having problems. Still having bad cramps when I have to have a bowel movement which seems to be once every three days or so, had a ct scan done last week because I would have to guess on when I should urinate as I had no feeling. After I got home from that it seemed like I would urinate for 20 minutes each time..it was as if my body had stored so much and it was finally coming out. For the most part I get cramping or tightness which let's me know I have to urinate but still not the normal urge one gets. Doctor said that ct came out fine but that I was only one month out and it would take time. He prolonged my return to work so now I'm off till April...going stir crazy but still get winded and feel pain if I'm out for to long. If I do to much at home I'm stuck recuperating for the next day. Husband doesn't understand . Now I'm getting severe headaches almost on a daily basis, backaches, bloody discharge daily (not heavy though), can't lay down and sleep unless I have a heating pad under my stomach which doctor says to use as needed. Also coughing up phlegm..Not sure if I'm getting sick or its a complication to everything else..still getting dizzy on a daily basis. I'm eating okay although it's only half the amount per sitting that I used to eat. Haven't even tried having sex due to still cramping.

4 weeks to go back to work with TAH seems ambitious to me. Don't most of us TAH ladies go back around week 8 and later? You've certainly been through the wringer but it sounds like you can trust your doctors. From the symptoms you describe I only have the one with the cramping/ache instead of the normal urge to empty my bladder. I can occasionally get that urge though. I did ask myself if the unfolding, filling bladder comes against some internal scar and stretches it painfully. Dislike that :-(

Re: 4.5 weeks post op total abdominal hysterectomy recovery...
Sorry to hear that you have been having so much difficulty with your bladder. Had my TAH a day before you and I have also been having a rough go with pain, BMs, and getting exhausted from doing the smallest things, which also caused me to recuperate afterwards. As for my bladder, I have not had any issues other than sometimes I go and then 10 minutes later I will have to go again...think my bladder muscles get confused, but then can go all night without getting up to use the bathroom. Remember a lot of our parts have been shifted around to remove the other parts, so that can cause issues also. Oh and would definitely wait on the sex part...you are still healing and if there is a problem in there, having sex could cause even more damage. Make sure to get your doctors okay before going there. Hope you get some relief soon!!
