One week post hysterectomy just lifted 11 pound cat

Had to head off a catfight. Lifted a 11 pound cat and carried him to my bedroom. Soon I had a pulling sensation in and some pain in my vagina. It ended quickly but I'm worried – did I pull something?

Re: One week post op just lifted 11 pound cat

Any spotting or bleeding? If not, and if the pain/pulling has subsided, it's probably just a warning pull telling you "No-no-no." Usually the weight restriction is 10#, that's a little more than a gallon of milk. I've read more than one confession from Sisters who've had something happen out of the ordinary (pet jumping on them, coughing spell, instinctively grabbing a falling glass) and felt pulls, yet they healed fine. Mine... was a king-sized sneeze one morning in bed my 3rd day or so post-op. It came on so suddenly that I couldn't brace it, felt like everything pulled, and I about went through the ceiling in pain!

Anyway, just monitor for any signs (excessive bleeding, prolonged pain). If you need peace of mind, phone your doc's office in the morning.

Rest well!

I got home from the hospital three days after surgery and without thinking about it, picked up my 13 lb cat to hug him. My body yelled, "PUT THAT DOWN!"

I was fine, you're almost certainly fine as well. Next time use a broom to break up the fight instead.

Youre probably fine, but dont pick up kitty for a bit longer.. If you can take ibrophrophen bc its antinflammatory. Ice packs for swelling, alternate heat pad for pains.

It happens. Ive done a few no, no's. I'm the one that did a big cough in the hospital while reclining in bed. I suddenly jumped to my feet standing in the middle of the bed. Oops! I shouldnt have done that. Luckily I was fine. Week 2, Federal Express delivered a package & handed it to me. Instinctively, I accepted the small package & right away it felt heavy. I just dropped it & let it go! The driver looked at me like, why did she just do that?? I picked up my 22 lb cat during week 5 & I was fine.. At my 6 week Dr visit, my Dr told me to start picking up at 5 lb increments. Well, I was already at 22 lbs..

If you notice more pains, more swelling & or spotting/bleeding then contact your Dr.. Take care! 🐺

Re: One week post hysterectomy just lifted 11 pound cat

Thanks so much for the reassurances! I never even thought to weigh the cats - now I know. Okay, I did notice a few spots of fresh blood but that was it. My post-op is today and I hope Dr. says all is well. This has been a tough deal-my sciatic nerve has been acting up,I had difficulty emptying my bladder for several days, and I'm still having troubles with bowel movements. I was having second thoughts the night before and I am regretting not acting on them now. (I had found out the day before surgery that the dr. who pioneered LH had a surgery center about an hour and a half away from Huntsville. An acquaintance had just had her LH done there. She had a fibroid the same size as mine and had also been told by local drs that it would necessitate AH.) I guess what's done is done. Prayers requested.

I also encourage you to visit your recovery thread to share and connect with sisters that had surgery the same week you did here: Aug 15-21 Recovery Progress

Remember you're just in your second week, the bowel and bladder are still adjusting post-op - drink plenty of water for both issues, make sure you're getting foods with fiber and magnesium for the bowels.

Huntsville... I used to live in Montgomery, and Huntsville was an awesome little city located in a great part of the state.

Prayers uplifted!

Re: One week post hysterectomy just lifted 11 pound cat

My cat has always laid on my lap and he is about a 20 pound Siamese. He is still confused as to why when he jumps towards me, I sort of shield my lap from him. I've allowed him to lay on me, a little. (He is the most amazing thing ever to take a nap with!) But no happy feet on my belly to get it the right squishy for him.
