When does the scar go away, if ever?

Hi, I just noticed today that my scar looks about the same as right after surgery. It's a straight red line across my abdomen. It's still red, does it ever go away or fade or is this it? I'm at 11 weeks now. Thanks!

Hi we had our op on the same day. My scar looks the same as yours but i was wondering if yours is getting itchy my is driving me crazy when does the itch stop. Friends have told me that the scar does fade in time but takes about a year, we will have to wait and see

When does the scar go away, if ever?

The scar from my c-section faded to a thin white (bearly visable) line within 1 year. My hyster scar is starting to fade to white, but it is much bigger since they cut around the old scar. I am almost 8 months out now.

When does the scar go away, if ever?

The incision from when they took my ovary out last year had finally gotten to a soft pink but then they reused it this time! lol DD had thyroid surgery in June and we had a plastic surgeon in with them to help with incision as she is young and scar would be in a very noticeable place. His advice whenever you have a cut or incision is 1)avoid sun on it (okay for most us that should be easy) 2) keep it clean but don't keep it so clean that you irritate it! and 3) but most important, once it is healed use a regular old vitamin E capsule, broken open, rub the oil over the incision site. Do not use those fancy vitamin E oils and such as they have additives including perfumes which will actually encourage staining of the scar and those fancy scar treatments work no better than this and this is much less expensive.

When does the scar go away, if ever?

Thanks for all of your responses! I really didn't have any idea it could take a year to fade away. That's good to know! I thought I was stuck with it like this. Vitamin E is a good tip, thanks for that mskayjay.
Thanks to Donna: Hopefully mine will start fading around 8 months too.
To Puss: Mine isn't too itchy, it does feel numb sometimes though. Hopefully yours will stop itching soon! Nice to know we had ours on the same day and we're both ok.

When does the scar go away, if ever?

When I had my first abdominal incision it took about a year to become flesh colored & almost invisible. It was still raised but still flesh color. My doc this time said he would make my scar look much better. Too soon to tell. At 4 months it's pink but it's not thick like the first one, looks like it may turn out flat.

ITCHING----neosporin plus pain relief really helps relieve that itch, ladies.

My scars never went away just kinda faded; however, I had 6 abdominal surgeries. I am just used to it now.

When does the scar go away, if ever?

Thanks for the neosporin tip. I hate the itchies. So hard to scratch in public! LOL. I hope mine fades to a nice white line soon too.

When does the scar go away, if ever?

I don't know about the hyster scar, but my scars from my gall bladder surgery are barely visible. The scar on my belly button is huge and quite noticeable, but they cut in the same place 3 times. Tubal, laproscopy, and gall bladder. I hope this helps.
