Upcoming hysterectomy 4/29 - congestive heart failure

Well the 29th is almost here and I'm so scared.I was wondering if anyone els had heart issues? This will be my first major surgery. I am concerned about Anastasia I have not been put under since we found out about my CHF.

Re: Friday is the big day

I haven't had any heart issues, so I can't comment on that, only to say that I am sure you will be in the best possible care and your health and well-being would be of paramount concern to all the staff in theatre.
Best wishes for tomorrow, make sure you make maximum use of this wonderful website and look at all the resources. My biggest tip is to get a binder - it was absoultely fantastic and I only got one because of so many women on this site saying how good they were. I was not told about it by my surgeon.
My other big tip is to try and visualize how great your life will be without your uterus - for me it was the massive bleeding and the pain. I was soooo thrilled when I had it done that I thought I could at last wear white jeans - until I remembered I don't have Liz Hurley's figure! All good though.

We are all thinking of you, hope it all goes really well, and let us know how you got on.

Re: Upcoming hysterectomy 4/29 - congestive heart failure

Did your pre-op testing include an EKG? If the anesthesiologist knows about the CHF and is still giving the go-ahead for the surgery, that means in their professional opinion they can get your through it okay. :-)

A binder is a piece of elasticized material that goes around your abdomen. Some women appreciate the extra support, others find them too constricting. I never had one or wanted one. Some hospitals give them out for free, while some doctors recommend against using them. So you may or may not wake up with one already on.

Good luck today! :-)
