Vertical incisions,above navel?

Mine will be... I'm sure recovery is going to be really bad

Hi,

I had a myomectomy via vertical incision and they ended up converting me to TAh on the table and going back in through the old incision for my hysterectomy.

My incision loops around the navel and extends down.

How far above the navel did they say they have to go? My uterus was very large (more than 900 grams) and they only went around the navel.

Both of my recoveries were really easy. I was up and about right away with the first surgery. With the hysterectomy, I never had discharge, no bleeding, no issues at all. Many women with other procedures have had a harder time than I did. I was walking day 5, increased distance every day. Doctor cleared me 100% at 4 weeks.

Surgery isn't my favorite thing in the world, but my recovery went really fast and I feel great today. It's like nothing ever happened.

Why do you think your recovery will be bad? Are there other issues you're addressing?

right now they are saying maybe 2-3 inches above, just have to see once get in there...I had a myo years go...had vertical under navel down..
So, they are cutting same incision up , loop around navel and up few inches above my navel..My uterus is 30wk...

I'm just imagining a lil more painful since going so far up..that's all.

oh sure, I see. Sounds like your uterus is even bigger than mine was. I'm sorry to hear it!
