Almost 5 weeks post hysterectomy: Still foggy headed and off balance.

I'm almost 5 weeks out and I'm still struggling with foggy head and off balance feeling. How long did this last for you? I'm not on any meds. And I'm eating and drinking. I just can't get my equilibrium back. It's frustrating.

Re: Still foggy headed and off balance.

I am 4 weeks out and am having the same problem. My nurse said it was due to anesthesia but it's been 4 weeks. I have to return to work in a week and I'm worried.

Re: Still foggy headed and off balance.

It can be from the anesthia and also menopause.
Your body is still dealing with that and i believe your on hormones, not sure though, but if you are then that needs to balance out a bit and then you will get some balance back and a clear head.
Just be patient.
And if things get worse, go to your doctor and maybe need a tweak of your hormones if you are on them and if you are not maybe talk about other options,
Take care

Re: Still foggy headed and off balance.

I'm a little confused... You're saying that you're not in meds, but in another post you mention you take bets-blocker (which causes dizziness) and you're wearing a patch, which could also have side effects...

Right now we can't find a hormone dose that doesn't make me sick

I meant narcotics for surgery. I just started the beta blocker. Didn't know it could make you dizzy. N hormones are a mess but with or without I'm still dizzy

Re: Almost 5 weeks post hysterectomy: Still foggy headed and off balance.

Forgot about the beta blocker....
That will definitely make you dizzy...
Talk to your cardiologist about tricks to deal with that such as time of day to take it or if theres a lower dose or to switch it to one that doesn't make people so dizzy.
Its definitely the thing that making you dizzy and also menopause.
I can't take estrogen either so you might want to try phytoestrogens to see if they help while you figure out the beta blocker.
Flaxseed, soy and red clover help.
Black cohosh can help some but it does contain the same component thats in aspirin so talk to your doc about that one.
Also hops and fenugreek have some but with hops that will make you tired so just take it at bedtime.
Definitely as i said before, talk to your doctor about the beta blocker and see if theres a different dosage or time of day or a different medicine to help your heart problem without making you so dizzy.
Take care

Re: Almost 5 weeks post hysterectomy: Still foggy headed and off balance.

Definitely get properly diagnosed by a cardiologist since it maybe that you need something else and not a beta blocker since all the blood pressure meds work differently for the different reasons for high blood pressure.
There are so many causes for high blood pressure so you need to figure that out.
And it maybe that the cause of the high blood pressure you shouldn't have estrogen.
So if i were you, i would get a cardiologist and figure that out and get a proper diagnosis and proper treatment. You might be on a totally different treatment than what you need.
And don't be scared of cardiologists....i been seeing them pretty regularly all my life (have a heart defect thats borderline surgical and smaller than average heart)
They are actually quite nice people.
So i would do that before doing anything with the hormones since the cardiolgist might just take you off of it because of the cause of high blood pressure.
Definitely see a cardiologist. And the cause of the high blood pressure maybe causing your dizziness......
Take care and call tomorrow for a referral to a cardiologist and let me know how it goes. Trust me it will be ok just get a proper diagnosis.
