Losing faith in doctors!

I posted yesterday about the problems peeing and rib pain. I am VERY unhappy with the dr. I saw. Actually I think she is a nurse practitioner. I had never seen her before and I know they can't take the time to read the entire chart......But, she walked into the office, asked what the problem was. I told her about the pain and the not being able to pee. She looked at me and said "what are you using for birth control?" I told her "nothing, I had my tubes tied in 2004." She wrote that down. Later she asked "have you ever had gall bladder problems?" I said "I had my gall bladder removed in 1996."

Like I said, I know they can't read the entire chart....BUT I don't know about all practices but the one I go to has ALL surgeries on the front page of the chart. Could she not atleast skim the front page before seeing me??

And to top it all off, I told her the only way I can pee at all is to rock side to side on the toilet or to half way stand up. Believe me, standing up is not a way for a woman to pee!!! She had no idea at all why this is happening and gave me NO advice on what to do for it. So now, I am STILL rocking side to side and trying to pee standing up and waiting for cultures of my urine to come back in 2 days!! And for some reason, I have no problem peeing laying down. I wear a pad 24/7 due to leakage when coughing, sneezing etc. I woke this morning to find I had wet myself so bad it had over flowed the pad!!!! Why didn't this wake me up????
This morning I am thinking "why can't they reschedule my surgery for TODAY???" I am so ready for this to all be over and still have until August to wait. Thanks for letting me vent ladies, although I think venting just made me even madder at this dr. or whatever she is.

Martie who is performing your surgery?? Is this nurse practitioner affiliated with that practice?? I think you need to call the office and tell them you need to see your dr today. You are the best judge of your body and if things don't feel right then you need to let them know. You could always get a second opinion, too.

Losing faith in doctors!

My surgery is being done by a specialist from another town. He comes to the hospital here to do some of his surgeries. I was referred to the specialist by my doctor, who I trust and do have faith in.

I can't see my dr. for this problem now. He is on vacation and when he isn't on vacation he has a waiting time of about 2 weeks for all appointments. I will call today and see if there is anyone else I could atleast talk to about the peeing problem.
Thanks for your response!

Losing faith in doctors!

I know how frustrating it is to have to wait wait wait for answers
Maybe the person you saw is just being very cautious? Hopefully the test results will be in quickly and give you some good helpful answers.

Maybe you could get an appointment with a urologist sooner than your dr. I see a urologist for my bladder issues and a gyno for my female problems, but they sort of go hand in hand. Maybe a urologist could help until you have your surgery. Good luck to you!
