My doctor says pregnanacy is still possible...

Dear Beachlady:
Did you read the e-mail from crampfree123? I don't think my worries are unfounded. Yes, I plan to use spericidal jelly if I can but I cannot take any chances. I felt like I was ovulating last week just like I've always felt even though I had the hysterectomy on Oct 7th. It was right on schedule. Please read the e-mail from crampfree and let me know what you think. Also, if you search the Internet under "abdominal pregnancy" you will find it is possible. It is not a rare as you may think. I just cannot risk it. I wish I could relax and forget about it, but I know myself and that will not work for me. In my entire life, I took a chance one time and was sorry I did. DH will have to take care of his "live amunition." Oh God, I hope he understands.

My doctor says pregnanacy is still possible...

OMG!!! I have never in all my life and looking at the internet for all the wierd and unusual things that I look at have ever thought that it could actually happen. I hope for the best for this woman. I understand her wanting this, but personal well being needs to be adressed. Plus she needs to understand how that baby is at risk for infection since it is outside the womb. Keep us posted. Love all Dawn

My doctor says pregnanacy is still possible...

CJL:

Ectopic pregnancies do happen, as do abdominal....but since there is no placenta to feed the fetus, they do not last and often end up endangering the womans life if they are left too long inside.

However, if you have a vaginal cuff, sperm cannot get thru there to even get anywhere....at least not once the cuff is healed.

You would have to physcially break the cuff with a needle or something, shoot sperm thru the hole, and be ovulating for a pregnancy to even start.....even then, with no place to grow into a viable pregnancy, you really don't have to worry about getting prego.

My mom got prego with all 3 of her kids while on strong birth control.....now, THATS fertile!!! If you have gotten this far in life, likely you don't have to worry about being so fertile at this point that you worry. But, if it makes you feel more comfortable, take some birth control or do what you need to do to feel safe.

Good luck!
With smiles,
Rebecca

I think your worried about nothing! At 50 your fertility is not what it was at 17! You also need your tubes to get pregnant and I would assume they would have removed them with your uterus. Hugs..Mary

Finally, as we speak it looks like there is no longer a heartbeat. They are going to see if she can pass it on her own tonight. I just don't see how that is going to work.

She still had a cervix, ovaries and tubes. Only her uterus was removed.

I told her about you ladies and your thoughts for her. She said to tell you all thank you. She is quite upset at all this.

CeCeRose,
That is so sad. No matter what chance a pregnancy has, having it end is a sad and difficult thing. I will keep her in my prayers and thoughts.

My tubes were not removed. I kept my overies and tubes. I know I am still furtile. I could tell every month when I would ovulate. I also felt like I was ovulating a few days ago even though I had the hysterectomy on Oct 7th. I don't think one can dismiss the probabllity of pregnancy strictly due to age. Didn't a woman of 65 give birth recently?
