healed on the inside. how do they know?

I guess my title says it all. I've seen some posts where some ladies's doctors have said that they weren't healed internally yet. How do they know this? Just concerned money-wise. I don't have my second post-op until 6 weeks, Jan 18, and was hoping to go back then even though they filled out my fmla until Feb 3.

Re: healed on the inside. how do they know?

I think when they do the post op exam they use the speculum, which opens your vagina wide, and then with the light they can see inside of you to see if you are completely healed. If you haven't done anything strenuous during that time, esp. sex, you should be healed just fine.

Happy New Year!

I don't think they can fully know.. My Dr said I was healed beautifully but I have been told by a friend it takes up to 6 months till you feel completely healed. I don't feel comepletely healed today. I overdid it and I'm feeling it and have all afternoon..

Total recovery from an abdominal procedure can take 6 months to a year, before everything settles down and feels normal.

Re: healed on the inside. how do they know?

At 3 weeks I was thinking that 6 wks was the magic time. Now at almost 3 months it feels like 6 months will be the magic healing time.
My dr. did say I would still feel the aches and pains now. I have heard 6 months to a year for full recovery.
Happy healing to us all.

Re: healed on the inside. how do they know?

I had my 4 week post op check last week, (lap hys kept ovaries) & yes, he said he wanted to check that all the cuff sutures were still in place. He used a speculum to look. I was lying there trying to tempoarily dissociate myself from this part of my body. Interestingly, he said that at this point I'm not going to do any damage, but it's still no sex & no heavy lifting for another 2 weeks.
