Early, early Christmas! Almost ready for surgery!
My hysterectomy is scheduled for the day before Thanksgiving... So DH and I spent the day pulling all the Christmas decorations out of the attic! Everything is set up except hanging up the ornaments. Tree, stockings, nativity, all up and ready for the holidays. Just a little bit of cleaning yet, and I'll be good to go for surgery! Anybody else setting up Christmas super early? It's a good way to keep myself distracted - and I figure I won't be up for getting into the attic at a week post op.

Re: Early, early Christmas! Almost ready for surgery!
Oh that's too funny, I'm doing the same thing. So I'm not crazy. My surgery is Nov 28 and since I'm the only one who sets it up, it will be early this year. My shopping is done as well and I need to wrap this week. As crazy as this sounds I'm excited. Oh don't get me wrong, I am still soo scared because I've never had surgery before but I finally feel good about all this chaos. My family is so supportive and my kids are helping me out in every way possible right now. (they still don't like putting up tree) but they got everything out for me. I have a 25 yr old daughter, 23 yr old son and a 19 yr old son, and they all have my jobs now and are and there not complaining, they are already took over my daily chores so I can rest. I love them all for that. Hope you have a successful surgery too. Cat

My surgery is the 22nd and I'm putting up our tree and decorations this coming weekend. I'm not done shopping by far, so I plan on doing that about a week or so after surgery.

Re: Early, early Christmas! Almost ready for surgery!
In exactly one week...down to the minute... my surgery will just be starting. My Christmas gifts are all bought and wrapped.
But no tree for us this year. Too much!
We're already getting holiday invitations...hope I feel well enough to go.

Re: Early, early Christmas! Almost ready for surgery!
I am with you as well. My surg date is 11/22 and I put up all the outside Christmas decorations yesterday. Don't care what the neighbors think and I didnt want to push to do it when I was on "the other side". Tomorrow I am going out to finish Christmas shopping. After that it is only housecleaning - which I will do this weekend and while I am doing bowel prep (distraction). Cookie dough is even in the freezer. My husband only needs to put the tree up later. Now.....how will we feel when it's time to take it all down? That is a big question!

Re: Early, early Christmas! Almost ready for surgery!
Christmas gifts for the kids are all bought and wrapped. Christmas gifts for our family members are all bought, some have been wrapped and shipped. Christmas is coming to us this year so very little shipping! I have a few more things to get for my spouse and I need to order sleds for the kids, but that's it.
We've got our cookie and candy making plans well in hand--we have a plan of what to make, have al the tins and whatnot, and ingredients are in the house.
Christmas stuff--I will bring that up tonight or tomorrow. The tree will come in the weekend after Thanksgiving and we'll decorate then.
I LOVE Christmas. It's going to be SO MUCH FUN!

Re: Early, early Christmas! Almost ready for surgery!
I`ve done the same. This past weekend I pulled out all the decorations, tree and started shopping. I`m scheduled Nov 28 also. I love this holiday season and I`m glad to have the reason to bring it early in the house. Good luck to you all.

Re: Early, early Christmas! Almost ready for surgery!
I LOVE Christmas too which is why I planned my LSH for Dec 14th. I'm planning to set up Christmas the first weekend in Dec and shop on black friday with DH. I'm looking forward to enjoying all the decorations and watching the snow, from the inside infront of my fireplace with a good book, while the kids are at school. =) Then I'm hoping to be feeling better a week post op when they start winter break and then we can enjoy playing games and watching movies together while I still take it easy. 30 days from today and I'll be on my way to recovery. So excited for this but nervous too.
