Re: Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread - Today Feb 26, 2017

Hi all!

My total hysterectomy is scheduled for tomorrow. I will be keeping one or both ovaries. A cyst was found on my left one in my last ultrasound. I also suffer from fibroids and heavy bleeding. I have tried a lot of methods to shrink them, but nothing has worked. I have two kids, 18 years apart, so I'm definitely done in that department. Lol. I've been working off my anxiety by cleaning this morning.

I am very nervous because I also have a seizure disorder, extreme stress and pain can bring it on. I am so worried about having a seizure and landing on my stomach. I will be wearing a pillow around my stomach around the house, but even that is just a cushion. My doctor told me if I land on my stomach hard I am going to need to go back in the operating room. I have many medical problems and have had numerous procedures and surgeries, but I wasn't as scared as I am now.
Greetings fellow Rochestarian. I am scheduled for a dvTH BSO this coming Tuesday. Many positive thoughts and much luck to you for a successful surgery and speedy recovery.

Hello fellow sisters. I just turned 50 yesterday And I'm anxiously awaiting my TAH on Wednesday 3/1 in Southern California. After 2 kids, years of heavy bleeding, extreme pain and recurrent endometriomas on my ovaries, I had an ablation and bso 8 years ago. All that put me into menopause. But over the last 12 months I've had spotting, pelvic pain like before, pain and bleeding during sex, and overall discomfort. GI doc and Uroligist both cleared me. But Gyn said let's do TAH. So here I am. Anxious all week and can barely sleep. Dr prescribed me Ativan. My fears are what will be found and how long will the surgery take. I worry about family waiting and worrying as they usually leave all worrying up to me. I was told that I was the last surgery scheduled for the day and the room was booked for 7 hours. Hmm. Wouldn't that make you anxious too? Can't wait to be on the other side of this. Best to ALL YOU SISTERS this week!! I know we will get through this. We are strong. We are brave. We are unstoppable!!

Hello everyone

Really lovely to see so many posts and to know we are not alone! I go into hospital tomorrow (uk) for a LAVH and BSO. I'm 36 and will go on HRT. Nervous but ready to give it a go in the hope of getting rid of my pain once and for all after around 8 previous surgeries from the age of 15 onwards for endometriosis/cysts/adhesions. I'm blessed with three children they said I would never have, so I am trying to focus on feeling incredibly grateful, I know it does not work out for everyone that way.

Wishing everyone lots of love and luck
Xx

Re: Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread - Today Feb 26, 2017

Greetings fellow princesses.

First and foremost, I wish you all a successful surgery and speedy recovery.

I am 52 and live in Western NY with my husband, two golden retrievers and two cats. I am scheduled for a dvTH BSO on Feb. 28th. It's been a long couple of months waiting to have this surgery. Many large fibroids and ovarian cysts have been less than comfortable. It hasn't been extremely painful but there are moments. Up until about a week or so ago I was doing great at avoiding all negative thoughts and emotions and now I'm a basket of nerves. Sleep has not been consistent as I'm up several times with hot flashes. I'm no stranger to major surgeries but this will be my first and hopefully last robotic surgery. There is just something about this that is unsettling. Thank goodness I'll be asleep

Finding this site has been such a blessing. I feel as prepared as I'm going to be and doing all I can to enjoy the next couple of days before surgery.

Best of luck and hugs to you all

Re: Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread - Today Feb 26, 2017

Hello Sisters:
I have my surgery tomorrow ( 2/27) and I am from Virginia. I am more scared of the recovery then I am of the surgery. It will be vaginally done, and I am also getting a bladder tuck. My obgyn is doing both - since he also specializes in pelivic floor as well.

I am more bladder issues then with my period. I do have fibroids and they have grown, and a cyst on my oveary. I am too hoping they will leave my ovaries - because I can not got through a emotional changes. I already suffer from anixeity/depression.

I wish everyone well.... and keep in touch on how everyone is doing. It is good to know that there are support like this when others can't understand how you feel or going through.

Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread - Today Feb 26, 2017

I am 33 with 3 kiddos ages 7, 6 and 3. I am having an abdominal hysterectomy tomorrow 2/27 morning. I have had very painful periods since they started at age 14. So painful that sometimes it would make me vomit. After a year of trying different things to help, we decided a hysterectomy is the best way to go. Dr. Suspects endometriosis but won't know until she goes in. Honestly, my fear is of it being canceled. I have a cold, it's getting better. I'm just scared I'll do the bowel prep (yay) for nothing. I'm also scared it will go through. I'm terrified of being put under.

Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread - Today Feb 26, 2017

Greetings

I am scheduled to have my hysterectomy on 3/1. I've been dealing with heavy bleeding and a fibroid that has gone frome being the size of a tennis ball to now a grapefruit within a year. I am doing a full hysterectomy because of my age and having only one fallopian tube. I'm 47 yrs old and do not plan to have another child; I have a 23 yr old. On top of that my uterus is enlarged and causing my stomach to stick out. On one hand Im anxious about the other procedure, on the other hand Im so past dealing with these irregular periods.

Re: Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread - Today Feb 26, 2017

ladies! Just popping in to wish you the best! I too had fibroids (doc quit counting at 15), the largest being the size of a grapefruit after doubling in size over 4 months. What I didn't realize until after surgery is that Ol' Lumpy was the source of incontinence and, ahem, loose bowels. I thought I was getting old and decrepit !

I'd not had surgery in my adult life, and don't remember much about my one childhood surgery. Didn't know what to expect with anesthesia, but it was rather astonishing - within 2-3 minutes of getting the "juice" I was out. It's way deeper than any sleep, no dreams, no sensations, and when I finally came around a few hours later, it felt like I'd only been out 5-10 minutes. Take comfort in that there's a team of specialists and medical professionals surrounding you in the OR and you are their #1 priority. There'll be one or two dedicated to monitoring you, and the anesthesiologist is your front line defender. Talk with members of the team you meet beforehand, it'll put you at ease.

Best wishes for textbook surgeries!
