Urogynecologist anyone????

I have a uterovaginal prolapse. which means: a prolapsed uterus and bladder. During researching. I noticed that a urogynecologist is capable of doing the same procedures as a gyn and a urologist put together. Question, has anyone gone to this type of specialist instead of the others?? If so, were you satisfied with their operating procedures??

Urogynecologist anyone????

i now go to a urogynecologist..i wish i would have found her prior to having the surgery....do question your dr as to what he/she is qualified to do because urogyenecologists are not usually qualified to do all that a urologist is capable of doing.

Urogynecologist anyone????

I initially went to a Gyn/Ob, but then got a second opinion with a Urogyn.
From my understanding if you have prolapse issues they are more specialised in pelvic floor and bladder issues.

The Gyn I consulted did no tests, apart from one internal and recommended vaginal hyst and A & P repair.

Urogyn did 2 internals, lying down and standing (to assess Grade of prolapses correctly), ultrasound of pelvis, abdomen, kidneys and also vaginal ultrasound. Had Urodynamic testing also.
I felt she was not only more thorough but has addressed all my prolapse/baldder issues and a sacrocolpopexy as a precaution for possible vaginal vault prolapse.

Urogynecologist anyone????

My ob/gyn suggested a uro/gyn because she said "I can do the surgery, but with your problems you would be better off with Dr. X becuase he does 3 surgeries a day." I was very happy with him - he really knew his stuff!

My gyn did assist with the surgery but I haven't seen her since surgery - I go for my Pap next month though.
