Have questions about stairs, ect...

I am 5 days post op and doing better each day. When I was released from the hospital they hardly gave me instructions for at home. Friends and family are telling me not to use the stairs, not to bend over and dont reach high above my head. Are these things others where told by there drs?
Thanks,
Sinh

my doc had no problem with stairs as long as I went verry slow, and was careful. I was told bending was ok, but stooping is easier, nothing about reaching above my head but I can tell you from experience, it will HURT if you do, so it's probably a good idea to avoid that for a week or two if you can.

I have stairs to get into my house, so I had no choice unless I was going to sleep in the garage LOL

Have questions about stairs, ect...

My doctor told me stairs were fine as long as I went slow. I live in a tri-level home and have been using the stairs since the first day I got home without any problems. My doctor didn't say anything about bending or reaching but as Whoneedsit? said it might not feel too great to do either one for a while. I am almost for weeks out from a TAH and I am just now feeling like I can move around easily.

My doc said to be careful on the stairs especially going down. Was worried about falling more than anything. The first few trips up were exhausting and I did it only one a day if I could limit it to that. My bedroom and bath are upstairs so unless i wanted to stay up there which i didn't i had to face the stairs. It has been four weeks now and the stairs are not a problem any more although i am still careful as i go down.

falling

the worry about falling is real--i fell this past week. landed hard on my bottom and bounced down 3 or 4 more stairs. i am fine--although i gave myself and my partner quite a scare! so, do be very careful!
