Is this Fibromyalgia?
robinsmail63,
I am so sorry to hear that you've had to deal with MRSA! I've had invasive Group A Strep, one kind I had was Necrotizing Fasciitis, which MRSA can lead to, so I've read about MRSA. I also know a lady from one of my homeschooling boards that her whole family ended up with it. I'm not sure if I'm reading it right, but did you have it since your TAH?

Is this Fibromyalgia?
Ah you are so sweet MIracle. Thank you for you caring heart. Yes I had flareups 3 times during my healing from TAH. The first time was only 6 days after surgery and they had sent me home the day before. I had to go to dr office the day after they sent me home and she opened my incision back up and packed it with guaze (sp?) on the examining table. It was absolutely horrible!!! I was sick with 104 temp about 6 hours later and right back into hospital. They treated me like I had a reg infection and I was in hospital for another 2 weeks or so. I had a dip in hemoglobin down to 6.2 and had to have 3 units of blood. I then had a pulmanory adema (sp?) and was put on lasix for two days. They sent me home the day before christmas and new years day I became very very sick again with infection and high fever. I went to wound dr to have my wound cleaned and they about died. I had open boils all over my abdomin, breasts, and under my arms. I wont even go into what happened after that and how it became that I was sent home instead of hospitalized once again. The wound dr (whom had no authority to hospitalize me) was able to prescribe the correct antibiotics for MRSA and sent me home with many apologies. I was so so so very sick. Then 3 or so weeks after that I had another flare up. I caught it early in the shower and we tackled it right away. No one in my family got it, thank goodness. Although I went to urologist yesterday to see about the bladder problems and he said I have an infection in the walls of my bladder now. So we will have to see what the cultures show on that. Flare up #4?
It is horrible infection. It in bacterial and in theblood stream. It hurts you all over. Muscles, joints!, head, etc... And it is very dangerous.

Is this Fibromyalgia?
Just getting back to you guys after speaking with my DH and he said that is basically what he has been doing. So you can check with nutritionists or something that helped him which he found by accident was having dunkin donuts hot chocolate in the morning. We don't know why but that seems to ease his pain.

Is this Fibromyalgia?
I to have Fibromyalgia and had a TAH 2/12. So far no pain from Fibro due to no stress right now. As for the TAH I am feeling much better today. All I want to do is sleep and relax. You only have 1 time to recover and I don't want to overdo it. My rh dr was horrible. All he would do was check my wrist prescribe med and say see you in 3 months. I stop seeing him, changed job and now am pain free. Thank God.

Is this Fibromyalgia?
I also have fibromyalgia. Mine first appeared after a severe rectal fissure. I had two surgeries and an infection; I was on narcotics for six months. After much research, I believe that my brain chemistry was changed as to how I perceive pain after the severe pain. Unfortunately, fibromyalgia has no known "cure" or medication that works for everyone. I have a drawer full of medical journals that all suggest "a multidisciplinary approach". This just means keep sending the patient to the next specialty because I can't help them. My husband is a doctor (IM) and he treats fibro patients. He has had some success with Lyrica. The truth is that not all doctors really believe in fibromyalgia as a condition that can cause horrible problems. The difficulty for doctors is that it is diagnosed by ruling out other conditions and then there is no known true medication. They are use to running a test and giving a certain medication. Hopefully, that is changing. All the other posts are great. Personally, I think everyone has to discover what works best for them and then learn to manage the symptoms. They won't go away but can be managed. Good luck.

Is this Fibromyalgia?
I have rheumatoid arthritis and fibro. Sleeplessness is such a funny thing with this condition. It's almost like the chicken and the egg joke. Does the fibro create sleeplessness, or does the sleeplessness create the fibro? Not much of a joke when you're suffering, I know. When my back is killing me between my shoulderblades, I feel like I'm almost getting the flu (tender skin and body), and I find myself waking up at all hours of the night, my doctor usually prescribes trazodone. It is a mild anti-depressant that is taken at night. Does the trick for me! Best of luck. Even if he doesn't think you have fibro, request trazodone to treat the depression! It won't make you gain weight like some other fibro meds and if it is the cure for you like it is for me, horray!

Is this Fibromyalgia?
I have fibro and had my LSH on 2/21...I do notice that my pain is lasting longer than average....slow healing is very common with fibro...also, many poeple with fibro also have myofascial pain too...All of my sibs and my mom have fibro and CFS together...each of us does something different to manage it...it's very subjective and what works for one may not for another...fortunately, I've found some natural things that help, and my PCP also specializes in pain management...so as I learn more, I'll share! Someone mentioned caltrate helping with sleeplessness....this is so true...Calcium REALLY helps me get better sleep, and it lessens your perception of pain! Good stuff! Gotta run now, but I'll try to share more later...
Blessings,
Janice

I have fibro also, but am taking Lyrica for nerve damage after hysterectomy
I was "searching" under Lyrica on this website and found everyones posts.
I have Ilioinguinal Neuralgia after my hysterectomy of Nov. 2005. I have seen so many different specialists, had so many tests, etc, etc and finally got a diagnosis that makes sense!!
The pain management clinic tried me on Neurotin starting out at 300 mg 3 times a day, then 300mg twice a day and 600 mg at night. But it make me too drowsy and affected my ability to drive a school bus safely. I was slowly tring to work up to a total dose of 2400-2700mg daily for it too really help my nerve pain. Then it also started causing me stomach pain and I think I have the beginnings of an Ulcer now. . . so I can't take it!
The pain mgmt. doctor gave me some Lyrica yesterday, it does seem to help buy it makes me a little dizzy.
I also have Fibromyalgia, had it way before my hysterectomy. The best solution I have found for the Fibromyalgia is, regular exercise, eat healthly and I take Flexeril and 100mg of Neurotin before bed to help me get a restful nights sleep.
I would like to hear back from some of you sister about your experience with Lyrica and also Neurotin. . .
Take care!
