New Member-Surgery scheduled for 4/3/07

Hello,
I'm 38 and scheduled to have a hysterectomy on 4/3. I've had severe endometriosis for several years now. I was taking oral contraceptives to control the endometriosis and everything was fine for awhile. In the past year, I've been experiencing migraine headaches which the doctor determined are directly related to the pills. I tried different medications for the migraines and nothing worked so I finally said, "that's it!" That leads me to my upcoming hysterectomy. I hope it's the answer I've been looking for. Of course, now I have menopause to look forward to. I know it effects everyone differently, but I'm a little scared about it. I keep wondering if it will make me old before my time I know that sounds silly, but I have no idea what to expect and the research on HRT is kind of scary Any support or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Bunnyluv and Welcome!!!

You might check out the following link https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/view_preop.htm

There are questions for your pre-op surgery to ask your doctor. Also, talk to him/her about HRT and see what they recommend. My dr. wanted me to wait 2 weeks after surgery before he started me on any HRT so that the hormones would be out of my system before he started me on them. Most women, I've noticed are put on them right away, but I think this depends on your dr.

I wish you the best of luck! You have found a great site here and these women are totally awesome. They helped me keep what little sanity I had left. Post your questions, vent when you're frustrated and we're all here for you!!!!
