Spotting 2 years later...(partial hysterectomy)

Hi Everyone,
I never thought I would have to post on here again but here I am.
I want to start by saying how this site saved my life two years ago, helping me through my surgery and a hard recovery.
I had a partial hyst July 4,2007. At the last Gyn visit he mentioned that because I kept my cervix that at times I might expect some spotting at my period as the cervix still has plenty of blood vessels and tries to do "it's thing" I did notice this for a couple of months after the surgery and then disappeared. This past weekend it started again. bright red and just enough for a pantyliner and lasted one day.
I went to my family Dr today because I developed a sinus infection and told him all about my crappy weekend he was alarmed at the spotting... I tried to reassure him but he doesn't like it..
anybody had the same thing?
Thanks Ladies, as always
Donna

Having a mini period can be normal and there are several ladies here on the site who experience them! You are not alone!

Any endometrial lining on the cervix can respond to hormones just as it did before the upper portion of the uterus was removed.

Wishing you all the best!

Re: Spotting 2 years later...(partial hysterectomy)

Thanks for your response! I'm confused as to why I'm spotting now, nearly 3 years post-op, and having had silver nitrate twice before as well. Can it take endometrial tissue this long to reactivate?

Is it normal for the pain to continue on outside the timeframe of a "period"? Should another silver nitrate treatment help? I'm 43, so should be physically menopausal within the decade...I just want to be pain-free now!

This long after surgery and you are now spotting....I would check with the doctor.....I started my mini periods after my ovaries woke up and that was 3 months after surgery. It doesn't hurt at all to give the doc a call....take care!!!
