Doctor's Office Answered Many Questions Today but...Cervix Question

I had TAH/BSO and my sex life is wonderful, it just took a little time to get it all back. And it was romantic because my DH had a virgin again and so we slowly got it back. It took two weeks of several trys to get all in. On New Years Eve we were all in with a fabulous Big O. I called my mom on New Years and told her I was no longer a virgin. She was very pleased. My parents are in their 70's and still very active. I plan on continuing in this family tradition.
For me depth was an issue but the cuff gave with a little time and everything is fine now. Good luck.

Doctor's Office Answered Many Questions Today but...Cervix Question

Hi HysterScared35,

I had a LSH and kept my cervix also. In pre-op, my Dr. told me that he thought the cervix helps with future pelvic support and with sex. Has been true for me!!

I had my cervix cauterized during my hyst and I have not had a mini-period in post-op. That was almost 4 yrs. ago now.

On the cervical cancer question...my Dr. told me that 3% or less of women have cervical cancer. I also read on Hyster Sisters...that over 70% of that 3% also have a HPV. I knew I did not have a HPV so that was good odds for me to leave my cervix. I did not want to remove my healthy cervix to prevent something that might never happen.

In the end...do what is *best* for you. That is what is most important.

Mary
